【Drive】 Refresh at Ebina SA (downbound) in the "dog-friendly walkway"! + Limited takeout gourmet options 3 items

During the New Year’s holiday season, the chances of using the highway increase, making it important for drivers with dogs to consider rest stops where they can relax with their beloved pets. Therefore, here’s a guide to Ebina SA (downbound), where you can enjoy gourmet food and the “dog-friendly walkway.”

"Refresh your beloved dog at the 'Dog Walker Path'"

During the year-end and New Year holidays, when I often travel far by car, I want to consider where to take my dogs for walks as well.
The main reason for stopping at the Ebina Service Area (downbound) is the "dog walking path." It has plenty of space for our dogs to stroll around comfortably, making it a perfect spot for a walk.
Depending on the dog's personality, some may get car sick after being in the car for a long time, so having places like these for walks is really helpful for a change of mood. Of course, since cars are not allowed in, it is a safe environment to spend time in.
The beloved dogs are thoroughly enjoying their walk. They seem to be fascinated by the various scents around, and they can't seem to stop. Especially the one in this photo tends to get car sick, so frequent breaks are a must. After plenty of walking, the dogs are refreshed, and next it’s time for the owner to look for some gourmet food.

Limited Edition 1: Fried Horse Mackerel with Mayonnaise Flavor

The first place I stopped by was "Odawara Kichou." When visiting the Ebina Service Area (downbound), you can't miss the famous fried horse mackerel. The crispy texture that allows you to eat it from head to tail makes you crave it again, no matter how many times you have it. This time, I chose the limited menu item "Mayonnaise Flavor" (350 yen) as my first dish.
The moment I took it out of the bag, the appetizing smell of mayonnaise wafted through the air. After taking a bite, the richness of the mayonnaise was deeper than I imagined! While I usually enjoy the peperoncino flavor, the mayonnaise flavor is delicious and highly recommended.

Limited Edition 2: Mai-Sen's Kakuni Bun

The second dish was from "Mai-Sen," which was set up in a food truck style. This is a rare spot where you can purchase the "Kakuni Bun" (400 yen), available only at certain service areas including Ebina. I've wanted to try it since I saw it on TV a while ago, and this was my first taste.
The moment I picked it up, I was surprised by how hot it was. The richly flavored braised pork melts tenderly in my mouth. The dough is surprisingly chewy, and its subtle sweetness further enhances the flavor of the braised pork.

Limited Item No. 3: Tokyo Banana Soft Serve Made with KITKAT

The last item on the list is something sweet. The moment I spotted "SASTAR2" in the shopping corner, my heart leaped at the sight of the "Tokyo Banana Soft Serve Made with KITKAT" (590 yen). I've always loved the taste of Tokyo Banana, and without hesitation, I made an instant decision to get it in front of this dream collaboration!
On top of the soft serve made with fully ripe banana puree, there's a generous amount of caramel sauce made with domestically produced condensed milk, creating a wonderful harmony. It has a light mouthfeel, yet the flavors of the ingredients are well concentrated, and once you take a bite, the spoon won't stop.

If you get a chance on your way back home, consider stopping by Ebina SA (downhill).

Enjoy the gourmet offerings at Ebina SA to the fullest, and reluctantly head back to the car. The mayonnaise-flavored "fried horse mackerel" was so delicious that I couldn't help but buy another serving.

The Ebina Service Area (downbound) not only has a rich selection of gourmet food but also features a “dog-friendly walkway,” allowing you to relax with your pet. Why not stop by on your way back home or during an outing?
