【UNIQLO】 Is the reissued +J "Down Volume Jacket" worth buying? A review of what’s good about it

Prompted by the reissue of UNIQLO +J, I decided to buy the "Down Volume Jacket". I'll review my actual experience wearing it.

Is the immensely popular Uniqlo +J "Down Volume Jacket" worth buying?

I tried purchasing the "Down Volume Jacket." When I actually put on this collaboration item that once attracted attention, I could feel why it has been supported for so long.

Rather than chasing trends, it’s about whether "I can wear it comfortably now."

Preparation for going out on cold days feels simpler than before. The reduction in time spent considering layers and worrying about warmth turned out to be a surprisingly significant benefit.

It can be worn directly over my usual outfits.

I chose this down jacket while looking for "the perfect piece." I want warmth but want to avoid bulkiness. Even with volume, there's no need to rethink my coordination.

It meets those conditions perfectly and can be layered over my usual outfits. This ease of use became the deciding factor for my purchase.

You can feel the balance of lightness and warmth

Since it uses premium down with a fill power of 750 or more, it has sufficient warmth. What left a deeper impression, however, was the lightness when wearing it.

It's warm enough, yet it doesn't feel heavy on the shoulders or neck. Even after wearing it for a long time, it doesn't cause fatigue, and on busy days with a lot of movement, I found it easy to wear without feeling stressed. The diminishing sense of "putting up with weight for warmth" is a major point for everyday use.

The reason why it doesn't make you look bulky even with an oversized fit

At a height of 165 cm, the size L looks quite loose. Overall, it is oversized, but because the shoulder and sleeve areas are designed to be compact, it gives a neater impression than it appears.

Although it has a slightly larger size feel, the silhouette is hard to distort, and it doesn't look clumsy when you move. The sleeves are longer, so even if you fold them back to add volume, they come together naturally.

With the drawcord at the hem, you can change your impression

There is a drawcord at the hem that allows you to adjust the silhouette by tightening it. When worn as is, it has a nice flare and a soft impression. Tightening it a bit also sharpens the silhouette, making it easier to achieve balance in your coordination.

Due to the overall volume, pairing it with tight bottoms creates a natural look. The length that covers the hips provides a sense of security.

The practicality felt when choosing black

The chosen black, even with a voluminous design, looks calm and seems easy to pair with everyday outfits.

Since it is made of a satin polyester material with a refined sheen, it doesn't become too casual and doesn't stand out too much in the city. The water-repellent treatment makes it easy to wear without concern even on rainy or snowy days, which is a practical advantage.

It's been easier to go out because I don't have to think about unnecessary things anymore.

Since I started wearing this down jacket, I've reduced the amount of thought I give before going out. I've found myself less indecisive about "What should I add since it's cold today?" and this one piece solves it. My coordination is simplified.

Also, after wearing it for a while, I noticed the presence of the collar. The collar is high and has just the right amount of volume, naturally wrapping around the neck. This gathers the gaze upward, making it less likely for the face to get hidden against the volume of the outerwear, which helps in maintaining overall balance.

It's warm without needing to layer creatively, and by tightening the collar, I can manage without a scarf. As a result, I've felt a bit lighter when going out in winter.
