[Golf] Watch and rangefinder collaboration! Aiming for score improvement through strategic course management
How many yards are there to the landing spot of the tee shot, where are the front and back edges of the green, and given the slope, what should the actual distance be? In golf, the ability to "read the course" directly impacts the score. Let's improve your score with Garmin's golf laser rangefinder "Approach Z10" without relying on estimation.
Connects practice to competition and reflection through app integration!
The main feature of Garmin's latest model "Approach Z10" is its ability to synchronize with compatible Garmin watches and GPS golf navigators via Bluetooth, allowing the laser rangefinder and watch to supplement each other's information.
When the laser captures the pin, the measured distance is displayed on the watch's course map using an arc line (red for targets on the course, yellow for those on the green) through the "Laser Range Arc" function, enabling a bird's-eye view of what position the measured distance corresponds to on the course. This system allows for a visual check of measurement errors, significantly reducing uncertainty in club selection.

The viewfinder includes a "Flag Finder" function that displays the distance from the pin to the front and back edges of the green in numeric format. It uses a bright outdoor-friendly PDLC display (black text), making it comfortable to use even during rounds on sunny days.
Additionally, the "PlaysLike distance (recommended distance to hit)" that takes elevation changes into account is also displayed in the viewfinder. When paired with a compatible watch, recommended distances factoring in wind and weather conditions are calculated. This function is particularly effective on courses with many elevation changes.

The laser measurement accuracy is ±1 yard, with a maximum measurement range of 1200 yards. The pin flag can be captured up to 350 yards away, and with a 6x magnification, distances to bunkers and details on the green can be measured.
The side of the unit features a built-in magnet, making it convenient to attach to the metal parts of a golf cart for carrying. It uses a 3V lithium battery (CR2) in a power-saving design, allowing about a year of use without battery replacement. The assurance of not worrying about charging and being unable to use it on the day of the round is a significant advantage.

It also includes a "Tournament Mode," perfect for those participating in competitive golf. In this competitive use mode, all assist functions, such as elevation correction, are turned off, and the LED indicator lights up blue, visibly showing fellow competitors that it is used in compliance with the rules. Furthermore, the "Find My Garmin" function allows users to check the last position where Bluetooth communication was conducted with their smartphone in case they forget it on the course.
The compatible devices include the golf watch "Approach" series, flagship models like "fēnix 8" and "epix Pro," as well as large-screen models like "Venu X1," among others. It can be utilized for data analysis after rounds in conjunction with the "Garmin Golf" app, seamlessly connecting practice, actual play, and reflection.
