Camp for stream fishing at the famous "Doshi no Mori Campground" in Yamanashi Prefecture! The best way to spend time with a hammock and steak

Thinking that if it’s a campground along a stream, you should be able to enjoy both stream fishing and camping at the same time, I came to the Doshi no Mori Campground in Yamanashi Prefecture. I enjoyed staying in a hammock after a long time and also had fun stream fishing in the Mikase River that flows along the site.

Close to the city center, with beautiful scenery and a vast area, it's highly popular! The Doshi no Mori Campground

The Doshi no Mori Campground is a very popular camping site located in Doshi Village, Minamitsuru District, Yamanashi Prefecture. Its vast sites stretching along the Mikasagawa River for about 2 km and the beautiful scenery are its charm. The free sites, which allow car access, have a first-come, first-served system that does not require reservations, which is a big feature. The campground is easily accessible from the city center, making it convenient to visit whenever you feel like it.

Enjoying hammock camping and steak

It was a summer day. The temperatures in the urban area before arriving here were high, but the camping site along the stream had a cool and comfortable environment.

I found a site with good sunlight and evenly spaced trees and decided to set up my hammock. The large area allows for easy site selection, as every spot offers a good view.
Recently, I had been focusing on car camping, so it had been a while since I set up a hammock. Surprisingly, I hadn’t forgotten my knot-tying skills, so the bed was set up without a hitch. I plan to go stream fishing tomorrow, so today, I’ll just relax and enjoy the camping experience.
Since it's a bonfire, I decided to grill some steak. Actually, I had bought the steak meat the day before, but I ended up coming here with it still in the refrigerator... So this meat is something I specially went to buy at a supermarket near Lake Kawaguchi. Forgetting things like this on camping trips happens often, but I'm glad I had time to recover.
When I pour sauce over the grilled meat, the iron plate sizzles. Feeling the sound of the river flowing and the clear air, I take a bite of the cut meat. Using a hammock as a chair, the extraordinary feeling of enjoying nature while savoring the meat is the best. While thinking about tomorrow's fishing, the night deepens.

Enjoying stream fishing without moving from early morning

This camping plan aimed to ensure the most important point for stream fishing, which is "securing a fishing spot that is not occupied by previous anglers." The Mikase River, which flows through the campsite, is a river where fishing is possible, and prior information indicated good catches there. Since I am right along that river, I should be able to enter the stream earlier than anyone else.
Suppressing my impatience, I quickly finish my breakfast. I wash down the rice balls I had prepared with the tea I boiled, and then off to the competition spot.
As expected, the flow of the Mikasagawa River is beautiful, and the narrow width of the river is a favorite type of stream. Perhaps no one has entered, but for some reason, the fish aren't showing up... In fact, I saw several anglers in the area yesterday and thought there were others who had the same idea, but maybe too many people fished the day before and the fish have become wary...

Even without any catch, I thoroughly enjoyed my hammock camping

In the end, I wrapped up my fishing without a single catch until the planned dam, resulting in a fishing experience that yielded nothing at all, but I consider it a success as I was able to enjoy camping and the scenery of the stream after a long time. Thanks to adding fishing to my hammock stay, I feel like I was able to appreciate nature more thoroughly than in previous camping trips, so I plan to continue this style in the future.
