【World Premiere】Range exceeding 300 km! What about the performance and release of Toyota's new "Hilux" in Japan?

The new "Hilux" has inherited the conventional appeal while also meeting the next-generation mobility needs. It will be offered with a focus on models that adopt new powertrains aimed at electrification, in addition to the familiar diesel models in Japan. The vehicle's off-road capability and practicality, which have been well-regarded, have further improved in this version.

In this announcement, the highlight is a "electric vehicle" as the core of a new model for the Asian market, featuring a BEV (battery electric vehicle). By equipping a lithium-ion battery across the entire width of the underfloor frame and a 4WD configuration with front and rear drive motors (eAxle), it achieves a maximum system output of 144kW and a range of over 300km, balancing environmental considerations and practicality.

The exterior and interior both incorporate a new generation design. The front face and body proportions exude a strong presence, and the cockpit is equipped with a 12.3-inch touch panel display, greatly enhancing texture and convenience.

The diesel model is scheduled to be launched in Japan in 2026.

Another charm of this model is its "multi-pathway" strategy that offers diverse power options depending on the region and application, revealing plans for diesel in addition to BEV, and further, an FCEV (fuel cell vehicle powered by the chemical reaction of hydrogen and oxygen) model is also scheduled for release in 2028. In Japan, the diesel model is expected to be released in 2026. While details have not yet been announced, expectations are high.
