【Wear Test】Is the evaluation of Workman’s "Double Flap Rain Suit" true?
Recently, I started commuting by e-BIKE, so I got Workman's "Double Flap Rain Suit" in preparation for the rainy season. With high ratings from reviews and excellent specs of a waterproof rating of 10,000mm and breathability of 20,000g/m²/24h, let’s check how usable it really is.
Is the high rating of the Double Flap Rain Suit based on reviews really true?

The staff recommended it to me with a stamp of approval, the Workman "Double Flap Rain Suit." It's a rain suit with a W Flap design that protects against rain and wind, and on the Workman official site, there were comments stating "The functionality as rainwear is perfect!"
At a price of 4900 yen for the top and bottom set, its amazing cost-performance is one of its attractions. Are the reviews really true?

It has a moisture permeability of 20L over a full day

When choosing rainwear, water resistance and moisture permeability are definitely points to check. It has excellent water repellency, with a water pressure resistance of 10,000mm and a moisture permeability of 20,000g/㎡/24h, making it reliable even in sudden rain.
By the way, a water pressure resistance of 10,000mm indicates waterproof performance that can prevent water ingress even in heavy rain. Notably, the moisture permeability of 20,000g/㎡/24h means that it can discharge vapor at 20kg per square meter over a full day. It is said that the general amount of sweat during exercise is about 1L per hour, so based on the specs, even sweaty people should be able to commute comfortably with this.

A structure that allows for active movement and a comfortable size

Trying on the black color, it has a simple and easy-to-use design. The outer fabric is tough twill, and the lining is mesh, giving it a sturdy feel that seems resistant to tearing even if you fall a little. There are also retroreflective materials on the back, enhancing safety at night.

The arm section features an active cut, making it easy to move. I primarily use it for cycling, and it exceeds the necessary ease of movement, but it also seems suitable for active scenes like hiking and camping.

Available in a wide range of sizes from M to 5L. I purchased a size M for a height of 170 cm, and it is slightly larger. It seems fine to wear over an outer layer like a jacket, and having this little extra room makes it easy to put on and take off as well as easy to move.
Adjustable details that are prone to water ingress.

The "Double Flap Rain Suit" is, as the name suggests, designed with a double flap that closes with a zipper and buttons. It has a drawstring adjustment cord around the face area and Velcro around the wrists, securely guarding against water penetration in areas that are prone to getting wet.
These features are more effective than I imagined, as not a single piece of clothing worn underneath got wet when I wore it on a heavy rain day! I have used it multiple times so far and have never experienced any water intrusion. Especially during my commute, when I am about to start an important work day, I absolutely want to avoid getting my clothes wet, so the reliable waterproof performance is truly a lifesaver.

It also comes with a hem tightening button, which helps reduce rain entry from the bottom. However, even when wearing Gore-Tex shoes, rain can still enter through the gaps between the rain suit. To fully guard against this, I recommend wearing rain boots or waterproof socks.
Ventilation features that reduce stuffiness

The back has two ventilation openings. Honestly, they are not that large, but they are effective! In previous rain gear, by the time I reached the nearest station (which takes about 10 minutes), both my top and pants would often be soaked with my own sweat.
However, when wearing the "Double Flap Rain Suit," sweat is significantly reduced, keeping me comfortable and dry. The discomfort is completely different, so I no longer need to use a handheld fan to dry off. It seems particularly effective during the rainy season when temperatures and humidity are high.

The overall evaluation is high! A well-made rain suit

By the way, the hood is detachable, and when it's a little cold while riding a bike, putting on the hood makes it somewhat more comfortable. During this season when the temperature drops after sunset, having it is quite helpful.
Looking at these aspects comprehensively, the experience exceeds the reviews' ratings. When choosing a rain suit, it should definitely be one of the options.
