A new idea of bringing the living room to the beach

ZEROPOD, when stored, measures approximately 45×40×115cm. It becomes compact to the size of a golf bag, making it easy to load into the trunk of a car for transportation. It weighs about 20kg, making it manageable to carry.

Once you arrive at your destination, unfold the main body, adjust the height with six telescoping legs. When set up, it becomes a hexagonal space with a long diameter of approximately 290cm, a short diameter of approximately 250cm, and a height of approximately 260cm, creating a space where five adults can relax.

Instead of going camping with a tent, it's more like bringing your living room out to create a room for five people along the coastline! That's the feeling. A remarkable era is upon us.

To set it up, take the main body out from the stored state, unfold it like an umbrella, level the legs, and raise the poles to complete the setup. A woman can erect it in about 4 minutes even by herself. The six-legged structure does not use pegs, so it can be installed on sloped or uneven terrain. The elevated space above the ground is also characteristic of ZEROPOD. Inside, there is a wooden center table inspired by a cruiser cabin, and you can enjoy the surrounding scenery through large windows.

After parking the car and unfolding the ZEROPOD, it becomes my living space for today. It seems like I can enjoy a more casual "drive & stay," which is different from booking a campsite and spending the whole day there.

The new 2026 model "ZEROPOD California" features a design that combines a vibrant yellow canopy with marine stripes. It's finished in bright colors that make you want to take it to the beach. The ZEROPOD itself originates from the experiences of architect Banri Shitahira aboard his yacht. It was created with the idea of recreating the time spent enjoying meals and conversations with family and friends while anchored in a cove, on land.

In the center, there's a wooden table, and the parts use materials commonly found in yachts and ships. The unique yacht aesthetic of the yellow California is wonderfully showcased. I'd love to take it to the beach and gather around the table while listening to the sound of the waves.

ZEROPOD is designed to provide a space where you can enjoy nature while keeping out rain, wind, insects, and humidity. The screen section features a half-mirror that reflects light from the outside, allowing you to enjoy the view from indoors. The ceiling uses moisture-permeable waterproof fabric, considering condensation as well. Moreover, it is handmade in a workshop in Hayama. Wooden parts are made from birch and marine-grade varnish, while the ropes are high-tech yacht ropes made in Italy. This is one of the reasons it is no longer considered camping gear, but referred to as "portable architecture."

It is scheduled to be exhibited at the "2026 Yokohama Floating Yacht Show" held at Yokohama Bayside Marina from October 2 to 4, 2026. Visitors can actually enter and relax inside during the trial experience.
