【Gunma Drive】 The Showa vibe really struck a chord! Offal stew set meal at Mount Myogi "Nakanotake Drive-In"
A writer who loves solitude drives his beloved car freely in this project. This time, we visited the Showa retro "Nakanotake Drive-In" at Mount Myogi. Standing in front of Mount Myogi, which looks like an ink painting, this Showa-era drive-in had a rich and flavorful set meal.
Now aiming for Mount Myogi with a cafeteria

The road from Ikaho to Mount Myogi with the cafeteria features a peaceful rural landscape. The area around Shimonita, where the cafeteria is located, retains much of its old-fashioned scenery, and especially around Annaka City, vast rural views spread out. We could enjoy beautiful scenery even on the way to our destination.

We made a detour to "Michi-no-Eki Myogi" along the way. It was bustling with elderly customers, and many local vegetables and processed products were lined up. This area is perfect for buying souvenirs.

After passing the roadside station, the mountain pass begins. The incline is not steep, and before we knew it, we felt like we were climbing to a high place. The silhouette of Mount Myogi we saw was different from other mountains and left a strong impression. It was so magnificent that I unconsciously muttered, "Wow..." and as we got closer to our destination, its grand figure became clearer.

Arriving at the parking lot of our destination, looking at the steep cliffs made it seem like the mountains depicted in Chinese ink paintings, and it is one of Japan's three great scenic wonders. In fact, the name Mount Myogi is a collective term for several mountains, and the Kongoto Mountain visible from this parking lot is also known as "Nakanotake."

Actually, the drive-in is inside the Nakanotake Shrine and seems to serve as a resting place for visitors. I could see the exterior that I had seen in social media posts with my own eyes, feeling the thrill of the journey.

I promptly entered the establishment, and as you can see, there is a strong "Showa era" vibe. This can only be a good sign. There was a variety of menus including curry, oden, and drinks, but this time I ordered the offal stew set meal.

The luxurious set meal, which came with many side dishes, was homemade and very delicious. The well-textured offal was flavored with miso, and it had a simple taste without any vegetables! It complemented the rice perfectly.
