Cool the iPhone in the car! Let's check the capabilities of the car holder with cooling function.

It's already hot in the car in May! Particularly around the dashboard, which is exposed to direct sunlight, the temperature tends to rise. A car holder installed in such a location, along with the iPhone attached, quickly reaches temperatures that pose a risk of overheating.

The temperature of the iPhone exposed to direct sunlight is indeed scorching hot

Recently, I've been mainly using Google Maps on my iPhone, but the iPhone located directly under the sunlit windshield gets hot enough that I can't touch it with my bare hands. When I measured the temperature out of curiosity, it was a shocking 52 degrees! According to Apple's official website, it states, "Please use it in environments where the ambient temperature is between 0° to 35°C," and this clearly does not seem to be a recommended condition.

If the iPhone remains in a high-temperature state, it can cause poor battery life, and warnings will appear, making Google Maps unusable. I recently encountered a "High Temperature Warning" on the screen and had to reluctantly pause my car movement until the temperature dropped…
So I introduced a car mount with a Peltier element (semiconductor cooling function)! It turned out to be incredibly effective, beyond my expectations.
So I introduced a car mount equipped with a Peltier element. It's capable of wireless charging and also has a semiconductor cooling function, making it exactly the car mount I was looking for.

I had been using cooling pads and such before, but they weren't very effective. Will this car mount truly work?

A holder that allows you to adjust the angle and orientation is attached to the dashboard

The arm is equipped with convenient features such as a telescopic mount arm and a ball joint. It’s also helpful that you can adjust it freely to match the orientation.
The installation is on the uneven textured surface of the dashboard. An auxiliary sheet with adhesive was included, so I applied this to enhance stability. Recently, I drove over the Hakone pass and it never fell off even once.

Does it really have a cooling effect? I tried it out

I checked the cooling effect that I was curious about. When I connected a Type-C cable, the outline began to glow in rainbow colors! (By the way, this color can be changed or turned off) When I touched the main body of the holder, it was already cool to the touch.
This time, I intentionally mounted my iPhone, which had gotten hot in the car holder I usually use. The surface temperature in this state is 43 degrees. I decided to take a 30-minute drive in this condition as a trial. Since it is also exposed to direct sunlight, the temperature would normally rise quickly, but...

The temperature has dropped more than I expected! This might be excellent

After 30 minutes. The temperature has significantly dropped to 32.9 degrees. It seems that the high heat of the iPhone at the time of installation may have influenced this, but it is within the temperature range listed on Apple's official site. It's possible to charge it, and I would say this cooling effect is impressive.

Blasting the air conditioning further enhances the cooling effect

It seems that directing airflow onto the rear heat sink will yield even higher cooling efficiency. So, I extended the arm and moved it to a spot where the air conditioning air hits directly, and then took another 15-minute drive.
Then what do you think? The temperature of the iPhone dropped to about 28 degrees! I believe it is also influenced by the fact that it was a hot day and we had the air conditioning running strongly, but it's surprising that the temperature drops this much in a place exposed to direct sunlight. Because the arm is long, you can adjust it to be in front of the air conditioner when the temperature rises, and move it to a more visible area when the temperature drops.
I bought this car holder out of curiosity, and it performed even better than I imagined. Since it uses a suction cup, it can be used not only in the car but also on a desk or in the kitchen. There's no doubt it will be useful when using functions that tend to generate heat, such as watching videos on the iPhone.
