【Drive】One hour from the city center, revisiting "Terra Burger Vending Machine RANZAN" in Arashiyama Town, Saitama Prefecture

In February 2025, I saw information that the hamburger vending machine located in Arashiyama Town, Saitama Prefecture celebrated its 2nd anniversary, so I decided to visit again. This time, I also headed to its second unit to enjoy the retro atmosphere and seasonal limited menu flavors.

The Teraburger vending machine RANZAN is located in Arashiyama Town, Saitama Prefecture, which can be reached in just under an hour from Shinjuku via the highway, or in just under two hours via local roads. It has a proper parking lot, making it a perfect spot for a little drive or touring.

First, let's head to the No. 1 machine, the "Teraburger vending machine RANZAN," which I also visited last time

That vending machine is still standing unchanged, about 10 months after my last visit, nestled in a residential area. Although the retro-looking casing remains the same, the lineup of limited menu items has changed a bit.

Last time, the seasonal limited menu items were "Tandoori Curry" and "Mushroom Beef Stew," but on this day, they were "Winter Limited Tandoori Curry" and "Autumn Limited Potato Meat Mayo." The lineup of other standard menu items remains the same.

I decided to try the Autumn Limited Potato Meat Mayo.

I was attracted by the "Winter Limited Tandoori Curry," but hoping it's available in unit 2, I chose the "Autumn Limited Potato Meat Mayo" here. By the way, the burger that comes out of the vending machine is cold, so you can also take it home to eat.

The microwave for warming it up is still there, and the surreal operating sounds flowing through the quiet residential area remain the same.

The "Autumn Limited Potato Meat Mayo" adds chunky potatoes and mayo to a basic burger, enhancing the volume and acidity. It’s easy to underestimate vending machine burgers, but this one is finished with a deliciousness that feels refined. Also, the substantial volume that can satisfy with just one unit is one reason it can satisfy visitors.

Now, let’s head to the other destination for this trip, where unit 2 is located.

It takes about 5 minutes by car from the first machine to the Terraburger second machine

The second machine is located in front of a store near the scenic spot of Arashiyama Gorge, about a 5-minute drive from the first machine.

It seems to have started operations in March 2025. Positioned along a busy road, it is a noticeable location even when driving, and it caught the attention of hikers coming from the gorge saying, "There’s a hamburger vending machine!"

There is a spacious parking area next to the vending machine, making it easier to park than near the first machine. A clear sign was installed for vending machine users, so it was easy to find it right away.

The menu lineup differs slightly from the first machine, as there are no "Pizza Burgers" or "Potato Meat Mayo," but there is "Bacon Mayo," which was not available at the first machine. Additionally, instead of "Obanyaki," there was a cooler bag.

At machine No. 2, I chose the tandoori curry

I was relieved to find the "Winter Limited Tandoori Curry," which I passed on at machine No. 1 earlier. The "Bacon Mayo" does not have a seasonal limited label, so I wonder if it is a regular item exclusive to machine No. 2? Since it is already sold out, I found it quite intriguing.

This location also has a microwave and a bench. I decided to heat it up right away.

The "Winter Limited Tandoori Curry" has a simple finish with curry sauce poured over it. In winter, I tend to crave the rich taste of curry, making this the perfect time of year for it.

I was fully satisfied after filling my stomach at both machine No. 1 and No. 2. Thank you for the meal.

The Teraburger vending machine in Arashiyama offers very high-quality taste, and the retro machine provides a cozy spot. It is easy to enjoy at any time of day, and it's no wonder it has been loved by many users to celebrate its 2nd anniversary.

As winter approaches, it can be a hassle to go out, but how about visiting a burger vending machine that you can easily drive to?
