【Free Everywhere】Camping Holy Sites: Report on 3 Recommended Free Campsites near Aikawa, Kanagawa Prefecture
Check out free campsites near Aikawa, Kanagawa Prefecture. The three campsites that the author had not previously visited all have spacious grounds and an open-field feel. These are three hidden gems.
This time, I picked three free campsites

I visited three locations that I had never been to before, near Aikawa Town in Kanagawa Prefecture: the riverbed under Hasugabashi, the riverbed at Tashiro Nakatsu River, and the multipurpose plaza at Takadabashi. Each location has a river flowing nearby and is a pleasant place to spend time.
The riverbed under Hasugabashi has toilets

First, it's the campsite located under Hasugabashi, which spans Nakatsu River. A point to note when accessing the campsite is that right turns are prohibited when entering from the bridge. You should take a detour and enter by turning left.

As you make the detour, you'll see the entrance to the campsite.

Although the campsite is surrounded by roads, it is so spacious that if you choose your spot wisely, the sound of cars won't be a concern. On this weekday, there were more than 10 campers, and many were seen relaxing in chairs or inside their vehicles. There were only a few tents, giving the impression that it is more of a rest area than a campsite.

It has a sense of openness and is a very nice place. With the cool autumn climate now, it seems you could camp comfortably.

There are no water facilities, but simple toilets are provided, so anyone accustomed to camping should have no problem staying here. The campsite in Aikawa Town is well-equipped, allowing for a comfortable stay even though it's free.

The Tashiro Nakatsugawa Riverbed is close to convenience stores and home centers.

Next is the Tashiro Nakatsugawa riverbed. It is a campsite close to the urban area, with a convenience store and a home center nearby. If you head from the Nakatsugawa riverbed under the Hachisukabashi bridge, you will take a left turn at the Tashiro intersection and enter the riverbed.

The campsite is located opposite Tashiro Sports Park, so if you aim for the park, you should arrive without getting lost. It was quite crowded here, indicating its popularity.

The campsite is quite spacious, with many campers present. Even though there were over 20 cars, there was still plenty of room for more, and unless it is peak season, it seems that you won't have to feel cramped.
Also, although there was some traffic on the road across the river, it is set back in a location that provides a very quiet environment.

There are no toilets within the field, so it seems necessary to use the toilets at the park. The toilets can be found along the road after going up from the riverbed.

There is a water supply in the park, but its use for camping purposes is prohibited. When camping, it is generally better to bring your own water.

Takahashi Multi-Purpose Square offers a sense of openness and a relaxing atmosphere

Takahashi Multi-Purpose Square is a large campsite along the Sagami River, easily visible when heading towards Ayagawa Town from the Tokyo area.

You can access the riverside immediately after turning at the Takahashi intersection.

There are restrooms near the condominium along the riverside. Since the field is very spacious, setting up further from the entrance may feel a bit distant.

There is a fishing tackle store right next to the toilet, where you can purchase light snacks and drinks.

Since it is located under the busy Takada Bridge, the sound of cars passing by might be a bit bothersome. There are large stones scattered on the ground, giving it a riverbed-like atmosphere.

It has become a vast field, making it a very open and liberating place. On this day, there seemed to be fewer tents. For those who are not comfortable in highly competitive spots with many campers, this might be just the right camping site.
