A little luxurious space in the back of the Jimny! The birth of a new car camping style with the "Toughlight Stand"

The author loves watching the scenery from the open back door of the Jimny. To make it more comfortable and original, they purchased the Toughlight Stand. How is its compatibility and usability with the Jimny?

I want to make the rear space of the Jimny more attractive

I love the time spent opening the Jimny's back door to enjoy the view. Being in the shade of the door makes me feel like I have a private secret space, as my line of sight and the wind are blocked, and it excites me. Since I'm the type who always wants to customize things, I thought I could upgrade this space even more and had been considering plans for a while.

What I had vaguely imagined was a pull-out kitchen system that has become standard among van lifers in Europe and America. It’s impossible to install in the space-constrained Jimny, but while thinking about creating a comfortable space in the rear, I discovered a stand that meets my needs.

The "Tough Light Stand" fulfills my needs.

The item that fulfilled the author's needs is the Yamazen "Tough Light Stand" (Amazon price ¥12,916). It's a foldable stand table that seems usable as a gear rack as well. The size and height (width 129×depth 42×height 86cm) are exquisite, and I was drawn to how perfectly it fits in the back door space. Some people install small shelves on the back door of their Jimny, and this gives the impression that such needs can also be met.
Since it’s foldable, it becomes a portable size (width 44.5×depth 87×height 11cm) that can be carried in a Jimny, and when set up, it feels reasonably heavy (weight 5.3kg), so I don't have to worry about it being blown over by the wind.
Placing a cooler on the middle shelf adds weight, increasing its stability. The catalog showed a water jug, but since I don't use one, I plan to think about how to utilize the shelves moving forward.

I acquired a mood-enhancing "Jimny Bar Counter"

I placed an oil lantern on it and created a space with a bar counter vibe. If this space had been present in scenarios with night views like in the first image, I think it would have been even more enjoyable. It might be nice to drink while looking at the ocean. The imagination expands.

The compatibility with the Jimny is good and I'm very satisfied

I tried sitting on it in the trunk and using it as a table, but the height didn't match and it was difficult to eat. If I use the central tabletop, the height seems to fit, but I would need to change the layout. Also, since it takes up some space, it may become harder to load when the amount of gear increases during winter camping, so I might need to reassess the overall equipment.

However, the Toughlight Stand is well-made and I am very satisfied with its compatibility with the Jimny. If I can eliminate my concerns, it seems like there will be even more convenient ways to use it. This item is very exciting. I'm looking forward to the next car camping experience and what new experiences the new gear will bring.
