【Summer Project】Creating summer memories with Daiso's "Fish Measurement Case" and "Live Bait Bucket"

It seems that Daiso is reputed for its fishing supplies. So, I picked up the "Fish Measurement Case" and the "Fishing Live Bucket" and actually took them to the field. They are 100 yen store items, but are they usable!?

Daiso's "Fish Measurement Case" and "Fishing Live Bucket" are they inconvenient?

I bought the "Fish Measurement Case" (200 yen) and "Fishing Live Bucket" (500 yen) from Daiso's fishing supplies, which seem useful for fishing camps and children's independent research projects. Both are items for holding fish, but they serve different purposes: one for "observation" and the other for "keeping."

In stream fishing, where I want to minimize my load, I was concerned that they might be "inconvenient" to carry. To keep everything together, I decided to fold the fish measurement case and put it inside the fishing live bucket.

I hooked the rope of the bucket's handle onto a carabiner and attached it to my waist pouch, making it more manageable. It's actually very light, so it's not a burden at all.

Fish hit! I tried putting it in the fish measurement case.

These two items are useless without fish, so while walking around fishing, hoping to catch something, I finally got a hit! To avoid touching the fish as much as possible, I first put it in the fish measurement case.

The fish caught was a sweetfish. It has a whitish body that matches the white sand at the river bottom. There are faint orange spots mixed among the white spots, making it very beautiful. The case is designed to measure sizes up to about 20 cm, and you can take pictures like the one above. This might also be good for children's independent research projects.

By the way, the fish measurement case has become hard to stand up because it got bent from being folded while carrying it. I struggled to unfold it, so it might be better to carry it unfolded or to stretch it out just before fishing.

The live fish bucket for fishing is lightweight, convenient, and keeps the fish from escaping.

The live fish bucket has a convenient top zipper and mesh parts, so there’s no worry about the fish jumping out and escaping. It has a handle, allowing it to be carried for a certain distance. This way, it seems possible to return to the campsite with the fish alive when wanting to eat them after fishing. However, there is no reinforcement at the bottom, so it’s best to handle it carefully to avoid scraping.

During fishing, I encountered a wild fox. Entering deep into the mountains creates opportunities to get close to wildlife living robustly. Walking around the mountains in search of fish is truly wonderful as it allows you to encounter landscapes you usually don't see.

The two items from Daiso were inexpensive yet useful tools for fishing spots. Especially the fish measurement case may deepen children's interest in nature through fish observation, making it useful for their summer projects.
