[Workman] For the morning chill! If you have a neck warmer, park catchball feels great

On an autumn morning when the cold is really starting to set in, I wanted a reason to move my body comfortably. So I wrapped Workman’s neck warmer around my neck and tried playing catchball in the park for about 40 minutes starting at 8 a.m. to see how it felt.

Autumn, when the seasons suddenly shift, enjoying catchball comfortably with a neck warmer

It’s November, and the air is getting much colder morning and evening. In a season like this, on chilly mornings, I want to get my body moving. So, as a cold-weather measure, I decided to wrap a neck warmer around my neck. It’s 8 a.m., and I’m going to play catchball in the park.

I headed to a park about a 15-minute walk from home. On typical mornings, it’s quiet, with the trees beginning to turn color, making for a lovely view. I left home with my glove and ball in hand, thinking it would feel great to work up a sweat in that setting.

8 a.m., heading to the park with a neck warmer around my neck

What I was looking for for my morning catchball was a neck warmer that would keep my neck warm even while moving. I thought it would be comfortable even if I worked up a sweat, and since it can be put on and taken off just by slipping it over the head, it seemed easy to make part of a routine.

I learned that Workman’s Dry Nova Neck Warmer is sweat-absorbent and supposedly resists stuffiness, so I headed to the morning park looking forward to how it would feel while moving.

At 8 a.m., low sunlight slants in through the trees, and fallen leaves are scattered here and there across the open area. The air felt crisp against my skin, clearly telling me that winter was drawing near.

Warming up my shoulders and arms, I started with a short distance

To get my shoulders ready, I didn’t start by throwing far right away; first I began with a short distance. Lowering my hips and swinging my arms slowly, I could feel my shoulders and arms loosening up little by little each time the ball went back and forth.
What stood out first about the neck warmer around my neck was how soft it felt. Even while moving, it stayed soft around my chin.

Even as I swung my arms, it stayed in place, gently hugging my neck. The calm black color blended naturally with my navy outfit, and wearing it lifted my mood. About 10 minutes after I started throwing, I could feel my body warming up.

Expanding the distance and throwing with all my strength

Once my body had warmed up, I gradually increased the distance, winding up big, stepping in, and throwing as far as I could. The sound of the ball landing in the glove echoed through the morning park. Even with bigger movements, the neck warmer stayed neatly in place around my neck. In the flow of turning my head to look far away and then throwing again, I was able to keep enjoying catchball comfortably.

Even when walking to pick up the ball, my steps felt light, and before I knew it, I was naturally smiling. I realized that the time spent moving my body on an autumn morning had become genuinely enjoyable.

Taking a drink on the bench and throwing once more

About 30 minutes after starting, I sat down on a bench to take a break. Even while drinking the hot coffee I brought, the neck warmer stayed wrapped around my neck.

Although I had worked up a slight sweat just after moving, my neck felt dry and comfortable enough even with it still on. The coffee warmed me from the inside, and my neck stayed gently warm too, letting me breathe a small sigh of relief in the morning air. After about five minutes of resting, I stood up and threw once more. Thanks to the neck warmer around my neck, getting back into motion felt easy and light.

Finishing the morning catchball session

After finishing catchball, the first thing I thought was that even on a cold morning, if your neck stays warm, time spent moving feels pleasant. The air at the start was chilly, but my body naturally loosened up, and my arm motions gradually got bigger as we went along. Also, the neck warmer was so comfortable I almost forgot I was wearing it, and even after sweating, it stayed comfortable until the end.
After about 40 minutes of focused throwing from 8 a.m., both my mind and body felt refreshed, and even though the day had only just begun, I felt satisfied. Being able to move my body first thing in the morning is the most rewarding thing because it lets me spend the whole day in a good mood.

Next time, I’d like to try catchball in the same park at 8 a.m. on a day when the temperature is a little lower.
