[Atsugi] The target is a few minutes before restocking! A local recommended "Tamago Sandwich" so I went to try it out

It’s a sandwich theme park──Enticed by such words from a friend living in Kanagawa, I visited the "Tamago Sandwich Research Institute" in Kamioshino, Atsugi City, Kanagawa Prefecture. It has frequently been introduced on TV, and I had been wanting to go someday, so my wish was fulfilled with this first visit!

Tamago Sandwich Unmanned Sales Place

According to a friend who has been to the "Tamago Sandwich Research Institute" more than five times, "you should arrive 15 minutes earlier than the restocking time because it sells out quickly." The restocking times are 6 AM, 9 AM, 11 AM, 1 PM, 3:30 PM, and 5:30 PM. I set off with plenty of time to spare. I was nervous due to my lack of familiarity with the area, but I could see a yellow building ahead. Is this the rumored "Tamago Sandwich Research Institute"?

There is a parking lot that can accommodate about 10 cars, making it easy to access by car. I arrived 15 minutes before the restocking time, but there were already many people waiting in the parking lot.

The yellow building greets you

What stood straight ahead after walking straight from the parking lot was this. It seems to be an office, and there's a nameplate that says "Tamago Sandwich Research Institute." There’s also a large sign reading "Japan's No. 1 Tamago Sandwich" at the front. The entire building is yellow, resembling eggs visually.

This adjacent building is also yellow. I noticed from the photo that the color cones set up at the boundary with the road are also yellow. You can really feel the enthusiasm for eggs here.

There it is, there it is! This is the rumored Tamago Sandwich. Since it was a weekday, it seemed that I was fortunate enough to find some remaining. A nearby customer also exclaimed, "It's rare to find any left!" However, the restocking time was just around the corner. I would like to get it freshly made if possible. I decided to wait a little longer.

At the table in front of the refrigerator, they were also selling bread crusts and eggs. These bread crusts were likely the trimmed pieces from making sandwiches. Some people purchased them without hesitation! I'm curious about how they are utilizing this large amount of bread crusts.

There was a line at the restocking time!

As I was leisurely checking the container, it seemed the time had come. A line formed outside, seemingly from nowhere. I stopped by on a weekday, but there were more people than I had imagined! In addition to the Tamago Sandwich, there were also fruit sandwiches and ones with fried chicken, surprisingly a wide variety of sandwiches.

Finally got the Tamago Sandwich!

I got a freshly made Tamago Sandwich! It's called "Overflowing Tamago Sandwich (300 yen)." Looking at the list of ingredients on the back, it features very simple ingredients like domestically produced bread, chicken eggs, mayonnaise, salt, sugar, and pepper.

What surprised me when I first saw it was its yellowness! It's even more vibrant than the building's yellow color. As soon as I took a bite, the bread was fluffy, and the egg was rich. Because of the simple seasoning, I could enjoy the true taste of the egg. This quality for 300 yen is a "deal."

This time I happened to stop by on a weekday and was able to purchase without waiting, but according to the staff, it often sells out on weekends. Be sure to plan your visit with some extra time.
