[Daiso] Family drives became more harmonious with a 1100 yen wireless charger

Solving the smartphone charging problem in the passenger seat for 1100 yen!? I will report my experience of how using Daiso's in-car wireless charger reduced some of the little frustrations during family drives.

Stuck in traffic, a family member's comment prompted me to buy a Daiso wireless charger

It was on the way back from a family outing when we got caught in a traffic jam on the highway. A family member sitting in the passenger seat casually remarked while looking at their smartphone, “The battery is down to 3%…”

In the back seat, the kids were using a tablet, and the charging cable in the car was being directed to them. I was driving and couldn't take my hands off the wheel. In the end, we had to head home with a somewhat tense atmosphere that day.

Remembering that incident, a few days later, I found a “car wireless charger” at Daiso. The price was 1,100 yen.

It was easy to install by just plugging it into the air conditioning vent, and charging started as soon as you placed your smartphone on it.

It also allowed for 360° angle adjustment, and visibility of the screen was not an issue.

Connect the included cable to the charger unit and the SB-compatible adapter (sold separately), and you are ready to go. When you place your smartphone in the charging area, it will automatically start charging.

When we tried it out, the person who liked it the most was the child.

Initially, it was a charger bought for adults sitting in the passenger seat, but surprisingly, it was the child who used it the most. When sitting in the passenger seat, I usually showed them their favorite videos, but now, with the “just place it” feature, there’s no need to worry about running out of battery halfway through.

Until now, there were frequent exchanges like “How much battery is left?” or “I want to charge it, but the cord doesn’t reach,” which were minor stresses while driving. Since installing the charger, the child has learned to place their smartphone in the designated spot to watch videos, allowing me to drive with peace of mind.

I didn’t have high expectations, but it turned out to be just right.

The charging speed isn't particularly fast, and the feeling of being fixed isn't as strong as higher-priced products. However, it was sufficient. I can charge my smartphone while looking at it in the passenger seat. Just that alone reduced a bit of stress inside the car. The simple but certain effects of "the child can sit quietly" and "I don’t have to worry while driving" felt grateful to me.

A small item to protect the harmony in the car

Considering the effect gained for the price of 1100 yen, I believe it was a completely worthwhile purchase. No tools are needed, and installation is easy. By combining the smartphone's resting place and charging environment, the passenger seat has become a slightly more comfortable space.

It's no exaggeration to say that it's an item that makes me glad I bought it with the phrase, "Charging, I only have 3% left..." As the leisure season approaches, if you want to reduce some of the little frustrations during family drives, it might be worth trying out.
