【Hyundai】The compact BEV "INSTER" available from about 2.84 million yen will be released on April 10

The compact BEV "INSTER" from Hyundai, attracting attention in Japan, will be launched on April 10. With a maximum single-charge range of 458km, it supports long drives, and the price starts at a reasonable 2.84 million yen. The second phase of pre-orders is currently open, with the number of reservations already exceeding 300 units.

With a maximum output of 85kW, it is compact yet powerful

Hyundai, after a 13-year absence, has re-entered the Japanese passenger car market in 2022 with its fourth domestic model. It has a total length of 3.8m, fitting the five-number size for Japanese roads, which is slightly smaller than typical compact cars. Despite its compact size, the interior is spacious, featuring a walk-through front seat design and foldable seats that maximize available space. The design gives a sense of being an SUV, offering a strong presence.

There are three grades: the entry-level "Casual," the mid-range "Voyage," and the top model "Lounge." Both "Voyage" and "Lounge" come equipped with a large capacity 49kWh battery, providing a maximum output of 85kW and a maximum torque of 147N·m, ensuring sufficient power. It combines high livability and driving performance in a compact design.

All grades come with a 10.25-inch navigation system and meter display. The "Voyage" and "Lounge" include features such as roof rails, genuine leather steering wheels, and front seat heaters. Additionally, the "Lounge" offers a rare seat ventilation option for a car priced in the 3 million yen range. Other luxurious features include wireless charging, a digital key, and an electric roof.

The driving assistance system is equipped with Hyundai SmartSense. While the features vary by grade, the "Voyage" and "Lounge" have functionalities such as highway driving assistance and rear parking collision avoidance assist.

The butter cream yellow of the Lounge is the most popular

According to user characteristics for pre-orders, the age range is diverse, spanning from the 20s to the 70s. It seems that many reservations come from urban areas like Aichi, Tokyo, Kanagawa, and Osaka, indicating that the compact body size is valued for ease of handling even in narrow alleyways.

The highest grade, "Lounge," accounts for approximately 70% of total orders. There are five color options available, with the butter cream yellow pearl being the most popular.

A reservation campaign offering great deals is currently ongoing

The ongoing second phase of the pre-order sale offers two benefits. The "Health Care" service that supports three years of vehicle inspection and maintenance is extended by an additional year, and the legally required 12-month inspection in the fourth year will be free. Additionally, a manufacturer-specific CEV subsidy allows for support of up to 300,000 yen (if the CEV subsidy exceeds 300,000 yen, the subsidy will be 0 yen).
