The history of "Gold Wing" began in 1972, and the first generation "Gold Wing (GL1000)," released in 1975, was a sport bike different from the current model. Later, the second generation "Gold Wing (GL1100)," which underwent a full model change in 1980, expanded its displacement to 1085cc, transforming into the appearance of a grand tourer.

The third generation "Gold Wing (GL1200)," launched in 1984, increased its displacement to 1182cc and made the body larger. The "ASPENCADE" was equipped with luxurious features, including an audio system and LCD digital meters. In 1988, the fourth generation "Gold Wing (GL1500)" was introduced, adopting a newly developed horizontally opposed six-cylinder engine instead of the previous flat-four. The design became closer to the current model.

After 8 years, the fifth generation "Gold Wing (GL1800)," born in 2001, was designed not only for long-distance touring but also for enjoyable winding roads. The current sixth generation "Gold Wing Tour (GL1800)" was launched in 2018, featuring a double-wishbone front suspension for motorcycles that achieves a comfortable ride and nimble handling. It became a topic of discussion for including the world's first Apple CarPlay in a motorcycle, equipped with the latest features to meet modern needs.

The 2025 model comes in only one color, predominantly silver, with parts at the lower body, such as the main frame, front and rear wheels, and muffler cover, in black.
