【Sustainable】 Utilize discarded fishing gear! Fishermen should choose sunglasses that are friendly to the "sea."
If you love fishing and the ocean, you want to choose environmentally friendly items. Sustainable sunglasses made from discarded fishing gear as frame material, which adopt biodegradable bio lenses, are a product that deeply loves the sea.
The Great East Japan Earthquake and thoughts on local production for local consumption are included.
In recent years, nearly 60% of the marine plastic that has become a problem is considered to be debris related to fisheries, and these have become serious issues referred to as ghost fishing and ghost gear.
According to an announcement by the Fisheries Agency, fishing gear often has salt and marine organisms adhering to it and is made from multiple materials, making recycling and upcycling difficult, with many being disposed of in landfills. However, there seems to be criticism against this practice, and international organizations are rapidly advancing measures to prevent the loss of fishing gear.

The newly established lifestyle brand "moment of OCEAN" is tackling this issue and aims to solve the marine plastic problem through the upcycling of discarded fishing gear. The first item in this line is sunglasses, developed in collaboration with amu, based in Kesennuma City, Miyagi Prefecture, which also conveys thoughts related to the Great East Japan Earthquake and local production for local consumption.
Both models of sunglasses come with two types of lenses.

The sunglasses are available in two styles: the Wellington-style "Kesenray" and the Boston-style "Kesenmola." Both incorporate amuca PA, a material recycling material, in their frames, which includes collected discarded fishing gear. Every product made using amuca comes with an amuca tag, and scanning the QR code allows users to view the story of the collection area and the process of product development. This enhances the emotional attachment to the products.

Additionally, the lenses include clear photochromic lenses and tinted photochromic & polarized lenses, which can be used according to different scenes such as indoors or in snowy mountains. The lenses utilize biodegradable bio materials, making them environmentally friendly.
The case is made from wetsuit scraps.

The first shipment utilizes discarded fishing gear collected from a fishing port in Kesennuma City, Miyagi Prefecture. The accompanying case, made from wetsuit scraps from Ishinomaki, reflects the affinity for the sea and a wish for recovery, which adds to its appeal.
Moreover, the case can also be used as a coozie, making it useful for outdoor activities. Currently, pre-orders for the first batch are being accepted in limited quantities. It seems to serve as an opportunity to think about the planet.
