【Daiso】Can back pain be improved for 110 yen? We tried the backrest in three situations
We actually used Daiso's "Mesh Backrest" in three situations: car, remote work, and living room, to evaluate its usability. Based on the price of 110 yen, we provide a real review considering breathability, support around the waist, ease of installation, and more.
Can the heaviness in the lower back be alleviated for 110 yen?

While driving or during remote work, one might suddenly notice a heaviness in the lower back… there must be quite a few people who can relate. Especially during traffic jams or long drives, where remaining in the same position for extended periods leads to thoughts like, “If only there was something to support my back a little...”

So, I decided to buy the "Mesh Backrest" sold at Daiso. Priced at 110 yen, it's an easily testable item; but does it really work? I tried it out in three situations: a car, a home chair, and a living room sofa.
Car: Better to have it than not, especially for city driving.

First, I set it up on the car seat. Attaching it is just a matter of threading the rubber band through the seatback and hooking it on. There’s no wobbling, and I don’t have to worry about it coming loose while driving.

When I leaned back, I felt a sensation as if my lower back was being pushed firmly. By filling the gap in my lower back, I experienced a natural straightening of my spine and an improvement in my posture.

In my case, during scenes where I drive on the highway for a long time, there were moments when the pressure on my lower back was a bit concerning. It left me with the impression that it was more suited for short-term use, such as city rides or during traffic jams.
Home Office Chair: Good for improving posture, although there may be compatibility issues with the chair

Next, I tried attaching it to my home desk chair. The attachment was also easy, and it fit along the line from my lower back to my back when I sat down.

It gave me a feeling of being able to sit up straight naturally, and the just-right sensation of not slumping when leaning back helped me maintain my posture unconsciously during long work sessions.
However, I worried that if it were on a soft chair... there might be a gap with the backrest, which could potentially make it feel less comfortable to use.

Sofa: Not suitable for those who want to relax, but can be used for multitasking

Finally, I tried attaching it to the sofa chair in the living room. Normally, it's a place to relax, but when I introduced this backrest, to be honest, it gave me the impression that it might be a bit different. Because it is soft, the supportive resistance for the back weakens, resulting in an unstable sitting feel as if my back is floating.

That said, it surprisingly works well for multitasking times like operating a tablet or looking at a smartphone. When I want to sit up straight rather than lean back deeply... in such moments, it supports my lower back firmly and seems to help prevent a long time of looking at my phone with a hunch.
I can't rave about it, but "it's definitely better than nothing"

I wouldn't call this backrest a godsend item. However, considering the price of 110 yen, it's definitely worth trying for those who feel somewhat concerned about their lower back. It's lightweight and easy to carry. Its versatility makes it a friend to busy adults, whether at home or out. In any situation, it has a presence that just tidies things up a bit.

Rather than "dramatically changing something," it "gently alleviates small stresses." It was a tool that suits well when used with that feeling, one that accompanies daily life.
