As usual, I installed my favorite Daiso sunshade on the front windshield. The temperature increase inside the car is quite suppressed, but... on days when it’s parked for a whole day, I want to take measures for the rear window too! Since it's a large window, I thought it would be effective, so I got a "rear window sunshade" from Daiso.

Easy installation with a touch-up type

The touch-up type that can be expanded with one touch is easy to install and store. One side is silver, while the other side is black. With a simple design, it doesn’t interfere with the car's interior.

The size of interest is 100×50×0.1cm. When I checked at a Daiso store and the official online site, it seemed that they do not handle other sizes. It is recommended to check in advance whether it fits your car size before purchasing.

The three included suction cups can be installed in your desired location, making it customizable according to the type of car. My car's rear window is not only slanted but also has a dashcam and other accessories around it, which made it seem difficult, but I was able to install it successfully.

First, let's check the cabin temperature with just the front sunshade.

Let's start by checking the increase in cabin temperature with just the sunshade installed on the front windshield. Starting with the cabin cooled to 25 degrees with the air conditioning!

Turning off the air conditioning and waiting without opening the windows... The cabin temperature reached 30 degrees after about 7 minutes. The outside temperature that day was about 32 degrees. With no shade and strong sunlight beating down, the cabin temperature would have risen even more sharply without the sunshade.

The result of installing the "rear window sunshade"

I lowered the cabin temperature back down to 25 degrees with the air conditioning and installed the "rear window sunshade"! As you can see in the photo above, sunlight is coming in from the side windows, but how effective is it?

The cabin temperature reached 30 degrees about 6 minutes later. A difference of 1 minute is significant. It seems that after an hour, there will be a noticeable difference in cabin temperature. I think the influence of sunlight is considerable, but during the day when the direction of the sun changes, the effect of the "rear window sunshade" may be even more apparent, along with the front.

The areas where the sunlight is blocked by the sunshade have reduced seat heat, allowing for a comfortable experience from the start. I have installed a drive seat for my beloved dog in the backseat, so it seems that I can safely take my dog along with me.

When not in use, it can be compactly stored, so even if I have a lot of camping gear loaded, I can keep it in the car without worrying about space.
