[Daiso] Heat prevention "Steering Wheel Sunshade Cover" is a bit too convenient for quick convenience store parking.
Even a short break, and before you know it, the steering wheel is piping hot... Will Daiso's "Steering Wheel Sunshade Cover" solve such summer driving worries?
10 minutes is the key to hot car interior solutions

During a drive, taking a little break at a convenience store. Even while buying cold drinks and snacks and heading back to the car, the harsh summer sunlight is pouring down. For such a short stop, setting a sunshade on the windshield can be a bit troublesome.

However, when I get back to the car, the steering wheel is already hot in less than 10 minutes! A sunshade may be a hassle, but in about 10 minutes, the car is uncomfortably hot, and it feels like I'm back to square one. I want to do something about this.

To solve the hot steering wheel problem, I got the Daiso "Steering Wheel Sunshade Cover." As the name suggests, it is a cover specifically for the steering wheel, so it can be set up more easily than a regular sunshade. It is slightly larger in size at 45×51cm.

The setup is just to put it on

The interior of the car should be cooled by the air conditioning, but the surface temperature of the "steering wheel sunshade cover" before use is 38.5 degrees. Although it is a temperature that can be directly touched, it feels warm due to the sunlight streaming in through the glass.

Attaching it is simply a matter of putting the pocket-shaped steering wheel sunshade cover on from above. This way, it looks easy to use even at a moment when you cut the engine and head to a convenience store.

It covers not only the driver's side but also fits snugly over the front windshield. The inside of the cover is made from a soft material, so it gently wraps around the steering wheel. It fits well, and even if your hands touch it a bit, it won’t come off.
What is the steering wheel temperature after 10 minutes?

And then, 10 minutes later. The temperature inside the car has risen like a sauna, but what about the steering wheel? By the way, the surface of the cover itself wasn't hot at all.

When I removed the cover to check the temperature... the steering wheel temperature was recorded at 37.5 degrees. Surprisingly, compared to before use, it has actually dropped by a full degree! Of course, it can be comfortably held with bare hands. It's great that we can set off to our destination right away without waiting for the steering wheel to cool down.

Once you're done using it, it can be folded compactly, making it easy to store in a handy location. By keeping it in the door pocket like the author does, it will be visible when opening the door, preventing any forgetfulness in putting it on.
