【Showa Drive-in Tour】 Right after the Sagamiko IC, we stopped at "Miharashi Drive-in" to eat the jumbo vegetable ramen.

Is this a hidden gem!? Discovered during our sightseeing at Sagamiko, "Miharashi Drive-in" allows you to feel the atmosphere of the Showa era. We enjoyed the famous "jumbo vegetable ramen" which contains the equivalent of two servings of noodles.

Right from the Sagami Lake Interchange! What’s the view like from there?

As I drove after getting off the Sagami Lake Interchange, a building with a yellow roof caught my eye. Its retro appearance makes it feel like time has stopped, sparking my curiosity.

The area is supposed to have few cars passing through, yet the "Viewpoint Drive-in" parking lot is almost full. This lively atmosphere seems to be a testament to its popularity among tourists and locals, doesn’t it? Let’s have lunch here.
Viewpoint Drive-in
Location: 156 Yosé, Sagamihara City, Kanagawa Prefecture
Business hours: 11:00 AM - 6:00 PM
Closed: Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and designated days
Although the name of the restaurant includes the word "viewpoint," the only unobstructed view of Sagami Lake was through gaps between the trees. At first, I felt a bit disappointed, but… perhaps having just a glimpse makes it all the more charming.

Before entering, I checked online reviews, and the "Jumbo Vegetable Ramen" (800 yen) seems to be famous. Since my husband, who joined me, was interested in trying it (he had eaten 100 bowls of "Wanko Soba"), I decided to order the Jumbo Vegetable Ramen.

The retro interior is clean and has a calming atmosphere.

As I entered the store, I felt a Showa-era atmosphere, just like the exterior. There is an old charm, but it feels clean, creating a surprisingly calming space.

It was Sunday lunchtime. Although the store was crowded, I was lucky enough to sit down without waiting. When I ordered the jumbo vegetable ramen, the staff member asked, "It comes with two servings, can you handle it?" My husband confidently replied, "No problem!" Although he should have a small stomach due to recent dietary restrictions, I wonder if he can finish it all?

After completing my order and taking a breath, I discovered a nostalgic tabletop fortune-telling device on the table. Memories of asking my grandmother to let me use it when I was a child came rushing back.
When I put in 100 yen, a 2cm capsule popped out. Inside was a piece of paper with a fortune that detailed my luck. The fortune I was curious about said "good luck!" I felt a good premonition about my journey.

What is this size! This really is jumbo vegetable ramen!

While forgetting the wait time and relaxing with the fortune, the "jumbo vegetable ramen" was brought to me. What is this size! I couldn't help but exclaim, "Wow, that’s huge!" The ramen was heaped in a bowl like a washbasin, overflowing with generous portions. The size of the accompanying spoon was also quite big.
Taking a bite, it's delicious! The flavor exceeded my expectations and was of a high quality. The vegetables like the cabbage that were topped on it had a nice char, providing a crispy texture and a wonderful savory flavor. The small amount of wood ear mushrooms added a nice textural accent. The soy sauce-based broth was light and had a heartwarming flavor.

My husband also exclaimed, "This is delicious!" and "The pepper is doing a great job!" Although there were plenty of topped vegetables, the overwhelming deliciousness made it disappear in no time. It seems he is now quite full.
While I was settling the bill, the clerk brought out a chilled can of coffee from the refrigerator. For my husband, who has made it a habit to drink coffee after meals, this seemed to be the perfect timing. Since both our stomachs and hearts were full, I thought we would enjoy some sightseeing around Sagamiko after this.
