【Yamanashi】Seeking relaxation at "Hot Spring Left Alone"! Enjoyed the hot spring and local gourmet

This week’s holiday, I went to "Hot Spring Left Alone" in Yamanashi! It seems that this place boasts a beautiful view hot spring and local gourmet dishes. It’s a surprisingly close day trip spot that I enjoyed for the first time.

I finally arrived at the long-desired "Hottarakashi Onsen"

I've come to the "Hottarakashi Onsen" in Yamanashi Prefecture that I've wanted to visit for a long time. Since I live in the Kanto area, Yamanashi is a popular spot for camping and day trips. Yet, it's a mystery to me why I had never been there until now.

I really wanted to watch the sunrise from the hot spring... but I overslept on the day of departure. In the end, I arrived at 9 AM. For now, I am overwhelmed with joy to finally be at my longed-for Hottarakashi Onsen.

Maybe it's due to the unique openness of the outdoor setting and its rustic atmosphere, but I felt a vibe reminiscent of a mountain lodge at this hot spring. As I walked in, a large sign caught my eye. Oh, so "Hottarakashi Onsen" has "Achichi no Yu" and "Kocchi no Yu."

It's hard to decide between "Achichi no Yu" and "Kocchi no Yu"~

"Achichi no Yu" is a spacious bath with a great view. "Kocchi no Yu" is said to be a bath where you can see Mount Fuji directly in front of you. I can't decide which one to go into. As I was pondering, I discovered a wooden die! I see, that’s what it’s for! The die I rolled indicated "Achichi no Yu"!

Immediately, I headed to "the hot spring over there." When I opened the door to the dressing room, a breathtaking view of Mount Fuji came into sight, unobstructed right in front of me. It was built like a stage utilizing the slope, allowing you to enjoy the panoramic view no matter where you were soaking in the tubs. It was simply an indulgent hot spring experience that you couldn't help but enjoy.

Before I knew it, I had soaked in the hot spring for a full hour. My body was relaxed to the core, and I felt healed both physically and mentally. When I went to the terrace seating to cool down... there was the stunning scenery I had seen from the hot spring spread out before me. It's pure bliss to be able to enjoy such beautiful views without even getting in the hot spring.

The local specialty cuisine seems to be famous for "on’tama-age."

Next, I would enjoy some food. According to someone I talked to at the hot spring, the "hot spring left alone" serves a specialty dish called "on’tama-age."

As expected, it was prominently featured at the top of the signboard. Below that, the recommended dish was meat udon. Today, I decided to have these two dishes. After purchasing the meal ticket, I sat on a nearby bench, waiting in that style.

In no time, it was ready. Since we’re here, let’s enjoy it from a seat with a great view of Mount Fuji.

The ultimate healing with hot springs and gourmet food! A day trip that makes you want to go again.

I’ll start with the “meat udon” (950 yen). The generously topped meat has a sweet flavor, giving it a nostalgic taste. The udon noodles are thick and chewy, reminiscent of Yamanashi's specialty Yoshida udon. The plenty of green onions included provide a nice accent, and it’s tastier than I imagined!

Wow. Besides the deliciousness of the meat udon, being able to eat while gazing at this breathtaking view is such a luxury. I can hardly believe I get to experience such a happy moment. For a while, I forgot about the everyday trivialities and simply enjoyed the majestic Mount Fuji and the meat udon laid out before me.

Then, I eagerly took a bite of the “hot spring egg tempura” (200 yen). This... is delicious! The crispy texture of the batter is great, and the yolk bursts out, spreading rich flavor and the deliciousness of the egg in my mouth. The salty taste is just right, satisfying what my body craved after the hot spring. It was so delicious that I ended up buying another one on the way back.

I am truly impressed that such a wonderful place is within a day trip's reach. I would like to go again.
