How will the high-performance EV car "IONIQ 5 N" change? Enhanced driving and practical features at 8.91 million yen
Founded in 1967, Hyundai (ヒョンデ) is the largest automobile manufacturer in South Korea. This winter, the company will make some improvements to the high-performance EV "IONIQ 5 N (アイオニック ファイブ エヌ)". Let's take a look at a vehicle that has strengthened advanced features and everyday usability.
There is a full-scale sports BEV package by Keiichi Tsuchiya
Hyundai's N brand, built on three pillars: "Corner Rascal," "Racetrack Capability," and "Everyday Sportscar." And selected as the first EV model of this high-performance brand "N" is the "IONIQ 5 N." By providing driving enjoyment and an emotional driving experience that does not change in the era of electrification, it is pioneering a new category of high-performance EVs.
Equipped with a high-performance four-wheel drive system, an 84.0kWh high-output battery, and a dedicated thermal management system, it achieves a maximum output of 478kW (650PS). Even as a BEV, it allows for acceleration experiences, drift driving, and fine control using left-foot braking, enabling ample enjoyment of circuit driving.
Changes in driving dynamics are three-fold.
In this partial update, an emphasis has been placed on further pursuing the joy of driving the "IONIQ 5 N." The key points are three modes.
The "N e-Shift," which replicates the feeling of an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission, is now available even in Eco mode, which was previously not possible. This broadens the options according to driving scenarios.
Additionally, the "N Drift Optimizer PRO," which supports drifting, allows for 10 levels of adjustment that can be selected based on the driver's skill and purpose. Furthermore, even when the engine sound is set to OFF during "N Launch Control," it generates sound to enhance the sense of presence during acceleration. Also, the number of widgets that can be displayed on the N mode screen has expanded from four to six, increasing the freedom of settings.

Driving in urban areas and daily commuting has become even more enjoyable.
Regarding safety features, a new Intelligent Front Lighting System (IFS) has been adopted. This allows for the maintenance of high beams while preventing glare to oncoming and preceding vehicles, thus improving safety in the dark.
Another new feature is the addition of AR (Augmented Reality) to the navigation system. It overlays route guidance onto the front camera footage, making it intuitive to verify the course.
Furthermore, the following features are also included as standard.
- Driver alert system through steering wheel vibrations
- Built-in drive recorder
- One-touch rear seat folding button
- Rear seat occupant notification sensor
- Power windows (all seats automatic up & down/safety features included)
