When you start to feel the chill in the morning and evening air, hot snacks to eat outdoors become even more appreciated. In particular, steamed buns are convenient and satisfying, making them perfect for a break during a drive or playing in the park.

However, if you can't eat them right after buying, there's a concern of "won't they get cold?". Therefore, I tried to verify how long the steamed buns purchased at a convenience store could retain their warmth using Workman's "2-Liter Slim Vacuum Hybrid Container."

During the summer, I carried 2 liters of sports drink in this container. It was able to keep its cool for a long time even in parks and children's playgrounds under the blazing sun, and I felt that "the large capacity allows the whole family to share."

Test and results using steamed buns

In the morning, I bought 3 steamed buns at a convenience store, and the internal temperature right after was 53°C. I placed each one in a container and put them into the 2-liter slim vacuum hybrid container. After 30, 60, and 90 minutes, I took out a new steamed bun each time and inserted a thermometer to record the internal temperature. I did not use the half-eaten ones, so it was a simple method measuring untouched steamed buns each time.

30 minutes later: 47℃ The temperature is sufficiently satisfying

As soon as I took it out, the warmth conveyed firmly to my palm, and the moment I cracked it open, steam wafted up. When I bit into it, it was still hot enough to be described as "steaming," which was an ideal timing for eating. I felt it maintained a temperature that would still be sufficiently satisfying even if I wanted to eat it right after moving.

60 minutes later: 44℃ Still warm and cozy

The warmth felt when holding it had slightly settled, but when cracked, the inside was still soft, and upon entering my mouth, I could feel the warmth. There was no impression of the texture diminishing as it cooled, and it had settled at just the right temperature for eating. Even an hour after purchase, the fact that it maintained this level of warmth brings a sense of reassurance.

90 minutes later: 42℃ The steam has weakened, but it's still warm.

As a numerical value, the difference from 60 minutes later is only a drop of 2°C, and although the steam when breaking it has weakened, the ingredients inside still maintained a moist warmth. There was no impression of having cooled down, and when trying it, it felt "still warm." It was confirmed that it can be fully enjoyed as a light meal.

The comfort brought by having a container

Until now, I had the misconception that "you have to eat meat buns quickly or they'll cool down," so I would eat them immediately after buying. However, after trying this time and realizing that a certain amount of warmth remains even after 90 minutes, my behavior changed.

Getting caught up in playing with my child, even when it was time just before noon and I thought, "I’m getting a bit hungry," I could still eat it while it was warm. I felt that it has become an item that provides ease in how to spend time outside, without being rushed to eat.
