【Rank Up】A selection of winter pleasures to incorporate into an adult Christmas found in Yokohama, Tsuzuki

I searched for items that would be helpful in creating a winter room in Yokohama, Tsuzuki, where German culture is rooted. Tips for adding a holiday feel to adult winter time include handmade wreaths, poinsettias, ceramic ornaments, white beer, and hot wine.

In the city where German culture is rooted, Tsuzuki, I sought winter inspiration

As winter approaches, the time spent indoors naturally increases. If possible, I would like to incorporate something that allows me to feel the season. In search of items that match that winter mood, I decided to go to the "German Christmas Market in Tsuzuki 2025," held in front of Center-Kita Station of the Yokohama Municipal Subway.

Tsuzuki Ward is an area closely connected to German culture, as it is home to the Tokyo Yokohama German School and numerous German companies, with about 45% of Germans living in Yokohama residing in this ward. It takes about an hour by car from Tokyo, making it just the right distance for a little weekend getaway.

In the evening, the square was already filled with the aroma of sausages and warm steam, the laughter of people gathered around tables was overlapping. Although the winter air was colder than expected, that chill felt like an element of enjoying winter.

What I came to find in Tsuzuki this time were small items I wanted to bring into my winter room. Are there small items available at the market that can enrich my time at home?

A handmade Christmas wreath that changes the air at the entrance

The first item I picked up at the market was a handmade "Christmas wreath" (1,600 yen). It has a rustic texture and warmth, and displaying it at the entrance instantly fills the space with seasonal spirit.
The moment I returned home, my heart felt a little lighter, thanks to an item that blends well with an adult's home. It naturally integrates into everyday living spaces and subtly brings the winter atmosphere with it.

A poinsettia that enlivens the kitchen

I also bought a classic winter staple, the "poinsettia" (798 yen). The red leaves brighten up the kitchen, making everyday cooking feel a bit more festive.
It's an affordable way to add a touch of seasonal color. Just placing one pot makes the room feel slightly warmer, creating a little space to enjoy the season even on busy days.

A ceramic Santa hat brooch that stands out on shelves or at the entrance.

There was a booth that handled handmade goods, and what caught my eye there was a "Santa hat brooch" made of ceramic (300 yen). It's excellent as a decorative point in the interior, and when placed on the entrance shelf, it exudes the presence of a small object, adding a subtle yet definite hint of winter.
Although it is not flashy, the texture of the material seems to give warmth, and I found it just right for seasonal decoration.

The joy of drinking that enriches winter nights… hints experienced in Tsuzuki

The German-style white beer and hot wine I enjoyed at the Tsuzuki Christmas market had a special deliciousness that resonated with the crisp air. I felt a growing expectation of being able to recreate this sensation at home, experiencing once again the high-quality time that drinks provide to enjoy winter nights.

The rich white beer "Vitas" is a luxurious treat for cold nights.

At the venue, there were several booths serving German beer, and what was being sold there was a rich white beer called "Vitas" (1,300 yen). This glass I enjoyed on-site was smooth and deep, providing a sense of weightiness unlike the usual beers.
Drinking it in the cold outdoors created a different kind of deliciousness. After passing my throat, a gentle warmth spread throughout. It was a luxurious experience that suited the winter night, leaving such a strong impression that I wanted to recreate this flavor at home.

Creating adult winter moments with spiced hot wine.

The venue also had a booth for hot wine with warm steam rising, and as I approached, the scent of spices wafted through the air. The "hot wine" (800 yen) had a comforting quality that relaxed my heart just from the aroma, and warmth spread from my palms throughout my entire body.
It seems easy to recreate at home by simply adding cinnamon, cloves, and orange to red wine. Enveloped by the aroma rising with the steam, the usual time seems to slow down a bit, and a calm feeling of winter night begins to emerge.

The inspiration that seems to enhance a winter night in Tokyo

The scene I saw at the market was not only lively but also filled with hints on "how to enjoy winter." The sight of people hungrily biting into sausages and chatting with a beer in hand embodies the gentle joy found in adult winter nights.
Reflecting on the atmosphere I felt in Tsuzuki, I thought I would like to savor winter time at home a little more carefully. Simply adding seasonal decorations to the room can transform the everyday into something special. Sipping hot wine slowly and experiencing the season through the wreath at the entrance will surely create memorable moments. The items I found in Tsuzuki served as a catalyst to rethink how to spend winter.
