【Resort Travelogue】 Spending time with family on Irabu Island, an adult's luxurious time doing nothing by the poolside

An adult resort stay that savoring the hotel itself without cramming in sightseeing. We stayed with family at "Irahu SUI Luxury Collection Hotel Okinawa Miyako" on Irabu Island, enjoying the sunset and champagne by the poolside, spending a blissful island time that relaxed all our senses.

A special time for adults that children will also enjoy, seeking a special time at the hotel

a family trip to Miyako Island. The time spent playing to the fullest with children is irreplaceable. However, if we're going all the way, we would like to have a special stay where adults can relax and stretch their wings for at least one night.

With such thoughts in mind, we chose a resort hotel on Irabu Island. The way we spent our time here was memorable.
The hotel was built in a place that overlooks the breathtakingly beautiful sea known as "Irabu Blue," just past the Irabu Ohashi bridge. It had no extravagance, but rather a presence that seemed to gently blend into the island's nature.

Even though it was a trip with children, I hoped it would be a place where we could properly savor fulfilling time as adults. With a slightly luxurious wish in my heart, we headed to the hotel. Crossing the bridge with a mix of expectations and excitement already felt like part of the journey.

From check-in, the feeling that island time was beginning to flow leisurely started to set in

Upon arriving at the hotel, the first welcome was a welcome drink made from island herbs. The excitement from crossing the Irabu Ohashi bridge combined with the strong sunlight of the tropics. The refreshing scent of the herbs seeped pleasantly into my slightly heated body.

By the time I finished sipping the subtly green-scented herbal water, I could feel my mind gradually switching to travel mode, realizing, "Ah, today I'm just here to relax."
The lobby was an impressive space. The white-based decor, inspired by the untouched nature of Irabu Island, is open yet exudes a certain dignified tranquility.

Even while checking in, the faint sound of gentle waves could be heard, creating a sense of being gradually detached from daily life. Even without having entered the room yet, island time began to flow leisurely.

From the upper ocean view guest room, savoring Irabu Blue

The room I stayed in that day was an upper ocean view room with approximately 45㎡ of space. The spacious interior, unified with a white-based design, vividly highlighted the blue of the sea stretching out before me.
Upon entering the room, I was welcomed by refreshing tropical fruits on the table. Just having the island's fruits gives a pleasant feeling of being "welcomed." Enjoying a piece of fruit while gazing at the sea gently eased the fatigue of travel.
The moment I opened the window and stepped out onto the balcony, I couldn't help but exclaim. The overlapping gradations of blue spread throughout my vision, ranging from the bright emerald green of the shallow waters to the deepening dark blue as it reached the open sea. It was a luxurious view that made me feel the "Irabu Blue" with my whole being.

The 12㎡ balcony was spacious, and simply sitting in a chair and gazing at the sea made time pass by. It felt almost wasteful to hurriedly go sightseeing. The children also exclaimed "Amazing!" at this view, and the whole family felt fulfilled just by being in the room together. It was that kind of guest room.

I want to spend a leisurely time by the poolside, an adult's luxury time

After taking a breather in the room, I headed to the pool inside the hotel. The approximately 18m long pool is located in an open setting where the beautiful Irabu Blue sea unfolds right before my eyes.
At the poolside, fluffy towels and cold water are provided, and this attention to detail makes me feel the luxury hotel atmosphere. Even if you come empty-handed, you won't have to worry about anything. Just that makes you feel more relaxed.
While watching the children play in the pool, I sit deep in the chair by the poolside, and simply spend my time leisurely. As the wind blows in from the sea, I drink cold water and close my eyes again. Here, I don't look at my smartphone, I don’t worry about my schedule, I simply "do nothing."

I realized that this empty time, which I can't normally have in my daily life, is the biggest luxury. Spending time just gazing at the sea and the pool, rather than moving my body in the water, actually fills my heart.

The sunset sky and sea, viewed with a glass of champagne in hand, is breathtaking.

One of the services I was looking forward to at this hotel was the "Sunset Delight" exclusive to guests. For one hour at sunset, you can enjoy champagne for free, a service that surely tickles the fancy of adults.
The venue is by the poolside and in the lobby. With a champagne glass in hand, I head out to the poolside first. In front of me is the Irabu Blue sea, which gradually changes its expression as the evening approaches. The sun, moving closer to the horizon, slowly dyes the sky and sea from orange to a deep crimson, and then to a soft pink.

Sipping on the chilled champagne while watching this transition was undeniably exquisite. The wind, carrying the scent of the sea, brushes against my cheeks, and tiny bubbles quietly rise in the glass. Just that alone makes me feel the tension in my shoulders melting away.
When I think about it, with children around, it’s these simple moments of "just sipping a drink while looking at the sunset" that are the hardest to come by. Yet here, within the hotel and with family, it can be achieved so naturally.
For an hour, I drifted in and out between the poolside and the lobby, gazing blankly at the evening sky. This was truly a moment that made me feel "grown-up" during this trip. A luxurious time not to be experienced in the hustle of daily life. This casual drink at sunset will likely remain in my memory far more than a fancy dinner.
Still holding my glass, I decided to wander over to the hotel’s beach club area. There are cozy items scattered around, like gazebos, daybeds, and a fire pit, creating a space where you can relax while listening to the sound of the waves, a truly luxurious setting. Just walking here while gazing at the sea illuminated by the sunset makes my heart feel unknotted.

The next morning, breakfast was a half buffet where we could savor the island's bounty

Dining is also a great pleasure of this hotel stay. The restaurant "TIN'IN," which opens to the sea on three sides with windows, has an overwhelming sense of openness, as if it is standing on a cape that juts out into the ocean.
True to its name, which means sky (TIN) and sea (IN) in Miyako language, beyond the windows, the sky and sea spread out as if they were interconnected.
Breakfast was in a half buffet style. Side dishes like salads and fruits could be taken from the buffet as desired, while the main dish could be chosen between Japanese or Western food.
I chose Japanese food. The easy-going nature of the buffet allowed me to freely take various items, while the satisfaction of being able to properly savor a freshly prepared warm main dish was wonderful. Being able to enjoy both of these experiences at once is truly delightful.
I have a lasting impression of being able to enjoy meals in a relaxed and calm manner, perhaps because the time of our visit was not crowded. There was none of the hustle and bustle commonly found in busy buffets, such as waiting in line to get food or noisy seats. It was a quiet morning savoring the island's bounty while gazing at the Miyako blue sea. Each dish delicately crafted with local ingredients resonated deeply in my heart. It's the beginning of a day that cannot be surpassed, a truly luxurious experience.

Even when with children, adults are properly fulfilled.

Traveling with kids tends to revolve around their schedules. Until now, I thought that was completely normal. However, at this hotel, I was able to truly savor satisfying moments as an adult while spending time with my child.
Starting with the scent of herbal water, the guest room overlooking the Irabu blue, the sunset delight with champagne, and the quiet breakfast while gazing at the sea. Each of these experiences slowly unraveled my five senses. I never thought that just “feeling” the atmosphere, light, and fragrance of the moment could be so fulfilling compared to “doing” something.
Instead of cramming in sightseeing, one should savor the hotel itself. This island and hotel should be the answer for those seeking a relaxed adult resort stay. The next time I visit, I hope to experience this serene island time again in a somewhat different season. I believe the sunset and champagne will be quietly waiting for me then as well.
