【Resort Travel Memoir】 Enjoying the pool and the sea in Miyako Island at "Hilton Okinawa Miyako Island Resort" - A way for family with children to enjoy

By minimizing travel time to the limit, even families with children can enjoy a relaxed trip! This time, I enjoyed the pool, sea, and views at "Hilton Okinawa Miyako Island Resort" in Miyako Island.

How to enjoy your stay at a hotel in Miyako Island without cramming your schedule

A family's first visit to Miyako Island. We decided not to "cram our schedule" for this trip on purpose. On family vacations while the kids are still small, if we try to visit one tourist spot after another, we end up rushed with moving and preparing, and before we know it, the parents are the ones who are exhausted… We've had that experience many times before.
So, we decided to shift our focus from running around tourist attractions to "enjoying the hotel itself." There's no need to leave the hotel grounds all day. Yet, we wanted to fully enjoy Miyako Island. We thought about choosing a hotel where we could relax like that.
After pondering various options, we chose the "Hilton Okinawa Miyako Island Resort" located in the Turibari area. The deciding factors were that it is a new and beautiful hotel that opened in 2023 and its spacious pool facilities.

In particular, I had high hopes of letting the children play to their heart's content in the pool while I soak in the feeling of a tropical resort, gazing at the beautiful Miyako Blue sea.
With such greedy expectations, we head to the hotel.

Before check-in, I was already savoring the beauty of the sea in Miyako Island just by driving across the Irabu Ohashi bridge. I should be able to slowly enjoy that Miyako Blue from the hotel as well. Excitement about wanting to enjoy the hotel quickly was building before our arrival during check-in.

A breathtaking view of the Irabu Bridge and sunset, ocean view

the room we stayed in was an ocean view twin deluxe room. Upon entering, I was immediately captivated by the view from the private balcony. Right in front of me was the endless Miyako Blue sea. And the Irabu Bridge, which we had just crossed during our drive, lay gracefully in an arch. It was a luxurious moment to leisurely gaze at the bridge we had just traversed, now from the comfort of our hotel room.
Even with the same scenery, just changing where you stand can show you a completely different expression. This is also part of the enjoyment of Miyako Island at the hotel. The room was filled with natural light, and the interior, incorporating Miyako Blue, was very pleasant.

Enjoying the pool: the children were having a blast

One of the major attractions of this hotel is, without a doubt, the well-equipped pool. There are several pools both indoor and outdoor, divided into areas for kids, families, and adults, catering to different purposes.
What the children were most absorbed in was the kids' pool with a slide. They slid down with joyful shouts, then raced back up the stairs to slide down again and again. If left to their own devices, they looked like they could play there all day, and just watching their innocent figures made me feel happy too. The water is shallow, so as a parent, it's reassuring to be able to watch over them without too much worry.
On the other hand, I couldn't take my eyes off the little ones, and unfortunately, I couldn't enter the adults-only pool I had been looking forward to. Glancing at the calm surface of the water and the serene adults-only pool, I whispered to myself, "Someday, I want to just zone out there without a care."
Still, strangely, I felt no dissatisfaction. Just watching the children frolic with broad smiles was enough to satisfy me. I've decided to save my own time for when the kids are a bit older.

I look forward to the next visit, and I have thoroughly checked out the adults-only pool.

The next morning, I had a breakfast buffet with about 100 different dishes to choose from.

The anticipation for the next morning was the breakfast buffet, featuring over 100 varieties. As I stepped into the venue, there was an overwhelming array of dishes, from Okinawan cuisine to Japanese, Western, and Chinese, all laid out before me.
After seriously thinking about where to start, the most memorable thing was the taco rice I could make myself.
Toppings are placed on taco shells, and you can finish it to your liking. It's just that simple, yet making taco rice was something I had never done before. It was playful, and it lifted my spirits in the morning.
The corner with various small donuts is a favorite among the children. Seeing them seriously choosing which one to pick while holding their own plates is quite heartwarming.

Since parents usually serve the food, the experience of "choosing for oneself and taking for oneself" might feel like a little adventure for the children.
Being able to leisurely savor such breakfast is also a fun time spent at the hotel. Letting myself embrace island time, I started the day slowly, gazing out the window with a cup of coffee in hand, thinking, "Let's make today a do-nothing day." It was how I spent my morning.

Beach: After breakfast, I took a walk along the seaside right in front of the hotel.

After filling up at the breakfast buffet, I took a little time before stepping out of the hotel building. Right in front of me was the "Miyako Sunset Beach." It was truly beautiful.
Walking along the untouched natural coastline, the sky and sea stretched out before my eyes. The crystal-clear sea, the white sandy beach, and the Irabu Bridge straight ahead in the distance. The view in the fresh morning air was more impressive than what I had seen in pictures, making me stop in my tracks and gaze in admiration.
The children run around on the sandy beach, splashing their feet at the water's edge and having a great time. There was no need to hurry to the next appointment; we simply strolled leisurely along the beach as a family. This casual walk after breakfast unexpectedly became one of the highlights of the trip.

Being able to reach this breathtaking view without getting into a car was also one of the benefits of the Hilton Okinawa Miyako Island Resort.

A resort trip on Miyako Island filled with the children

The original plan to enjoy some alone time at the adults-only pool didn't work out. With children in tow, the trip didn't always progress at my desired pace.

Nevertheless, the children's cheerful voices resonating around the pool, the breakfast I prepared myself, and the morning stroll on the clear beach each filled my heart. The way I chose to spend time "for the sake of the kids" was also refreshing for myself. This may have been a discovery of this trip.
Instead of rushing around tourist spots, I spent leisurely time on the hotel grounds. This "enjoying the stay" style felt just right for families with children. When we visit next time, I want to relax and enjoy a drink in that adult pool with my kids, who will be a bit older by then.
And above all, what I won't forget is the time during sunset. Going out onto the balcony with my children to gaze at the scenery as the sky and sea slowly turned orange. Even though we weren't doing anything special, that time just watching the sunset became an unforgettable memory of joy from our trip.
