"【Road Station】Just 1.5 hours from the city center! A little trip to enjoy the best pork bowl in 'Kiyotakawa,' the only village in Kanagawa."

The author, who loves going out, is heading today to the roadside station "Kiyokawa" in Aikō District, Kanagawa Prefecture. The main attraction is the pork bowl made with the local specialty, Kiyokawa Keisui Pork. Once you eat it, you'll be hooked! I'll report on this blissful taste!

I came to eat the famous pork bowl!

This time, I stopped by the roadside station "Kiyokawa" in Aiko District, Kanagawa Prefecture. Surrounded by Tanzawa-Oyama National Park, there is a beautifully tranquil nature spread out before you. As stated on the official website, it is conveniently located about an hour and a half from Shinjuku by car, being “the closest village to Tokyo.”
The roadside station "Kiyokawa" has the first floor dedicated to selling vegetables, local specialties, and souvenirs, while the second floor features dining options and crafts for sale. Initially, I stopped by for a restroom break, but after trying their "pork bowl," I became hooked and have come back more than five times.

Of course, my goal this time is my favorite "pork bowl."

Heading to "Keisui Kitchen" on the second floor

Normally, I would check out the souvenirs on the first floor before heading up, but I was so hungry this day that I couldn't wait. So off to the second floor! "Keisui Kitchen" is small, but it has a cozy atmosphere. Let’s buy a ticket from the vending machine and go to our seats.
When the bell rings, it's a self-service style where you go to the counter to pick it up. "Feel free to use sauces like tare or shichimi," they say. The author always tops it with mayonnaise. This time, I ordered the "Pork Bowl Mix, Regular (1300 yen)," which allows you to compare belly and loin. Today, I also added a "Hot Spring Egg (100 yen)" for a little luxury.
With so much pork piled up for 1300 yen, I would say the cost-performance is good, wouldn't you?
Let's top it with a hot spring egg. It's rich yet light, leaving the delicious flavor of the pork lingering in the mouth. Wow...! Delicious. Both the belly and loin are tender, and the moderately sweet sauce elevates the deliciousness of the pork bowl remarkably. Adding mayonnaise and the hot spring egg provides a rich creaminess that gives it a blissful taste. When it was served, I thought, "Is this too much?" but that worry was unnecessary. I finished it in no time.
On my way back, I bought "Kiyokawa Gelato Tea (334 yen)." Since the temperature was high that day, I was craving ice cream. I had been curious about it as it uses the famous Kiyokawa tea.
You can feel the refreshing flavor of the tea, and it has a refined taste. The moderate sweetness makes it perfect as a dessert after eating the pork bowl. I'm curious about other flavors as well.
Refresh your mind and body with delicious food and beautiful nature! I enjoyed local blessings from my favorite pork bowl to tea gelato. Near the roadside station "Kiyokawa," there are spots like "Miyagase Dam" and "Hattori Farm." Be sure to stop by while you're on your drive!
