【Daiso】The 110 yen "Smartphone Lens Set" is interesting.

Off to the beach with Daiso’s "Smartphone Lens Set"! I took photos of the vast ocean and sandy beach from Kugenuma Beach, overlooking Enoshima, using my iPhone 14.

Interesting photos can be taken through an analog lens

The other day, I took pictures of my dog using Daiso's "Smartphone Lens Set," and I was able to capture unexpectedly cute photos. Since all of them turned out to be interesting, I decided to try taking pictures in different situations, so I went to the seaside. When I tried photographing the vast ocean and sandy beach, it turned out like this.

A fisheye lens that can capture a unique worldview

A coastal landscape without a lens

First, I took a picture with the normal camera of the iPhone 14. Unfortunately, due to the cloudy weather, the image turned out a bit dark, but still, the sandy beach in the foreground and the ocean in the background are clearly captured. Indeed, the recent iPhone cameras have great image quality.

Using a fisheye lens at the same location

And here is a photo taken with a fisheye lens from the same spot. A unique perspective typical of fisheye lenses is spread out. The angle of view is wider than before, and you can even see Enoshima nearby.
With the fisheye lens focused on the sandy beach, I was able to capture a different kind of shot. The horizon forms a large arc, making it feel like a completely different world. Just a slight change in angle dramatically alters the image, which is the appeal of fisheye lenses.

A wide-angle lens that allows you to enjoy a retro atmosphere.

Coastal scene without a lens

Next, I attached a wide-angle lens. It seems unnecessary as the image appears wide enough, but what kind of photos can be taken from here?

Using a wide-angle lens

The field of view expands, capturing Enoshima and the mountains as well. The image quality drops slightly, and there is some distortion at the corners, but that actually enhances it. Although it is closer to the human eye than a fisheye lens, it has become a retro shot that evokes a sense of nostalgia. The black edges in the corners, which make it look like you're peering into the lens, also add to the charm of this photo.

A macro lens that can capture each grain of sand on the beach

Among the three lenses, the most interesting one was the macro lens. What I recognized as just a sandy beach with the naked eye revealed a world of tiny shell fragments, minerals, and transparent glass pieces when photographed through the macro lens. The charm of the macro lens is that it shows a world that is quite different from what we normally see. The excitement of not knowing what the photos will look like is like a treasure hunt.
When I attached Daiso's "Smartphone Lens Set" to my iPhone camera, I was able to capture scenes that looked quite different from what the naked eye could see. This time, I focused on shooting seaside landscapes, but it will surely be useful for scenes like commemorative photos as well. You should be able to stylishly preserve memorable moments.
