【Direct Sales Shop】Available only 3 days a week, for 4 hours! I was impressed by Kato Farm's pudding, loved by locals

After tasting the exquisite cream puffs from "Farm House" (Sagamihara City, Kanagawa Prefecture) the other day, an unprecedented pudding craze began. I've been buying pudding whether I visit a pastry shop or a convenience store. This is a report on the impressive pudding that made me feel I wanted to buy it on-site.

A "hidden gem" that only opens 3 days a week, 4 hours a day

Since receiving a recommendation from a friend, I couldn't forget "that pudding," and finally decided to visit the shop. That shop is "Kato Farm," located in Aihara-cho, Machida City. It's about a 1-hour drive from Machida Station and about a 10-minute drive from Aihara Station, right near Hosei University Tama Campus.

There's a parking lot, and access by car is good. The business hours are Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday from 11:00 to 15:00.
Right in front of the parking lot, I discovered an egg vending machine. Kato Farm is said to have a fairy-tale quality since it only opens 3 days a week for 4 hours, but the vending machine can be used from 10:00 to 17:00. However, when I stopped by, perhaps because the direct sales shop was open, items weren't being sold from the vending machine.

A friendly staff member welcomed me at the direct sales shop

And here is the direct sales shop that sells the coveted pudding. I visited during a weekday afternoon, and customers were continuously coming in. It seems there are many regulars.
The items available that day were displayed on this signboard. Oh? I thought there was only one type, but it seems there are three types of pudding. This was a pleasant surprise.
Upon entering the store, a cheerful staff member warmly greeted me. I was struggling to decide which pudding to choose, but they carefully explained the characteristics of each product. Initially, I intended to buy just the pudding I was after, but I ended up getting all three types!

Sampling the three types of pudding

The ones I purchased, from left to right, were "Kato's Pudding Jersey," "Kato's Pudding Jersey Smooth," and "Kato's Pudding Custard." They use fresh yeast eggs from Kato Farm, and each pudding is carefully handmade. In particular, Jersey and Custard have been recognized as specialty products of Machida City.
First up is the "Kato's Pudding Jersey," which I had wanted so much that it appeared in my dreams after I first tasted it. Ah! It's delicious as I expected. It's sweet and rich, but the aftertaste is light. That's why I can't stop at just one more bite. It contains 90g, but to my surprise, it was gone in no time.
Next, I tried "Kato's Pudding Smooth." It contains egg yolk and fresh cream, providing a smooth texture. Since I generally prefer smooth puddings, I was curious about this one. As soon as I took a bite, it dissolved in my mouth, leaving a sweetness and egg flavor. I thought Jersey was smooth enough, but this one had a level of texture that's even better. This is also a very high-quality pudding.

Though opinions varied within my family, I felt that the smooth flavor was the sweetest. And this was my favorite!
Kato Farm's official site recommended "Kato's Pudding Custard" for those who prefer lighter flavors. Oh, this one is quite rich too! It has a firmer texture that reminds me of a coffee shop.

At the bottom, it has homemade caramel sauce, which pairs wonderfully with the pudding. The slightly bitter caramel sauce mixes in, creating a deeper flavor. While it has the texture and taste of handmade pudding, its quality is unmatched compared to any homemade pudding I’ve tried before.

I encountered the ultimate egg over rice

I stopped by for the pudding, but Kato Farm's direct sales shop also sells carefully selected eggs. Since the customer before me was buying some, I decided to get the ultimate premium egg "Ultra Ran." It’s said they use mineral-rich water and a specially developed feed with natural yeast.
