I went to the unique deli that became a topic of conversation at "Midori Supermarket" in Kasukabe City, Saitama Prefecture

The author loves to stop by local supermarkets during travels. While searching for local supermarkets near Tokyo, I discovered a unique supermarket in Kasukabe City, Saitama Prefecture, selling a deli called "Sokorahaen no Kusaten-don." I went there.

I aimed for "Midori Supermarket" in Kasukabe City, Saitama Prefecture, to buy some slightly unusual side dishes

During my camping trip, I occasionally stop by local supermarkets unique to the area, and while searching for such a local supermarket in Saitama Prefecture, I found one in Kasukabe that sells side dishes with unique names. As I ventured off the main road and into the residential area, I spotted "Midori Supermarket."
By the way, the nearest station is Minami-Sakurai Station on the Tobu Urban Park Line (Tobu Noda Line). It is a supermarket located in the Showa Ginza shopping district on the south exit side. While there are many large supermarkets on the opposite side of the tracks, Midori Supermarket is the only one in the south exit area.
In the relaxed atmosphere of the shopping district, local shoppers, likely residents, moved about on foot or by bicycle, and there were many elderly people as well. Considering the elderly residents living in the south exit area from the station, I feel that having Midori Supermarket within walking distance is significant.

I purchased some uniquely named side dishes with the phrase "around there."

The image above shows the cargo area of a supermarket truck. The truck and the banners are decorated with paint that hints at "uniqueness." On this day, I came with the intention of trying the tempura bowl named "Grass from Around There."

Upon entering the store, it has an atmosphere akin to a traditional shop, with an attractive selection centered around fresh fish. Having successfully purchased some side dishes, I look forward to taking them home to eat.
In addition to the target "Grass from Around There Tempura Bowl," there were several items in the "around there" series to choose from. Besides the tempura bowl, I was drawn to the sweets, so I also purchased tiramisu, pudding, and an eccentric sweet bun called " Mitarashi Dango Cream Bun."

The "around there" series offers good cost performance with a homemade feel and deliciousness.

The ingredients of the intriguing "Grass from Around There Tempura Bowl" (310 yen) are eggplant, maitake mushrooms, sweet potato, kakiage, and a mysterious grass. I couldn't tell what kind of grass it was even after eating. The tempura bowl itself is hearty, and the slightly sweet sauce makes the rice go down easily. The price of 310 yen is cost-effective and fills you up well.
The dessert series also has its charm.

Both the "Nyaramis from Around There" (180 yen) and "Pudding from Around There" (133 yen) have a light flavor, making them easy to eat even after the tempura bowl. They have a homemade quality and were very delicious.
Finally, there's the "Mitarashi Dango Cream Bread" (160 yen). The dango on a skewer and cream are sandwiched in the bread, so you can't take a bite as is, which ended up with us eating them separately (laughs). There are many other surprising combinations of bread products, so I highly recommend checking them out.
