【Nearby Summer Resort】A hidden gem that is cool - "Jin'geshita Keikoku Park" where I sought a stream

As July began, there were days so hot that I didn't want to go outside. Thus, I stopped by the stream "Jin'geshita Keikoku Park" in Yokohama. It was a hidden summer resort where I could refresh both my mind and body!

I visited a summer resort in Yokohama, the Jingaoka Valley Park

In my search for a "cool place that I can go to right away," I discovered a hidden spot in Yokohama City. That is this "Jingaoka Valley Park." The name Jingaoka is said to originate from Wada Yoshimori, a retainer of Minamoto no Yoritomo, who once set up a hunting camp in this area.

If you use public transportation, it's a 15-minute walk from the Sotetsu Line Kamihoshikawa Station. There is also a paid parking lot with space for 20 cars, so it is easy to access by both train and car. I stopped by with my car on a weekday, and there was plenty of space in the parking lot.

The parking lot was under the blazing sun, with such severe heat that I couldn't stand for even a minute, but once I stepped into the park, a different world opened up. The growth of trees creates overall shade, and the coolness is incomparable to that of the parking lot just a moment ago.
Most of the walking paths in the park are paved for easy walking, but as you can see, there are some slippery areas, so let's proceed slowly.

After about a 10-minute walk, I arrived at the stream

I paused for a moment to enjoy the beautiful nature, and I discovered a box at my feet. Upon closer inspection, there were words saying, "Please leave it alone." Inside, it was filled with dirt similar to the ground, but I gently put the lid back on.
After just under a 10-minute walk from the parking lot, I arrived at the stream, which was my destination this time.
There are stairs that lead directly down to the stream. I brought sandals specifically for this purpose. As soon as I changed into them, I stepped into the stream...
It was a scorching day of over 30 degrees, but the river water was cool. The water was clear and very beautiful. Once I stepped in, I felt a comfort that made me want to stay here forever.
"Is this really Yokohama?" It makes you want to doubt it, as a healing space unfolds and the flow of the river is calm, making it feel safe and enjoyable even for those with children. On this day, there were no people other than the author, allowing for a leisurely moment.
You can only enter the river in limited areas. It’s nice that the places where you can play safely are separated by fences and other barriers.

Why not refresh yourself in the natural mountain stream close to the city center?

Next to the no-entry sign was a note saying, "There are many baby fireflies in the river." I never expected this to be a rare spot to encounter fireflies! With this beautiful river, it certainly seems that fireflies would thrive.
"Jingashita Valley Park" is a recommended cool retreat to visit in the harsh summer heat. I was able to refresh myself thoroughly in the pleasant mountain stream and beautiful nature. Especially on weekdays, there are fewer people, so you can enjoy it leisurely.
