【RV Park】The "Miharashi no Yu Auto Campground" in Nakagawa Town, Tochigi Prefecture, created by relocating from the city, offers a comfortable atmosphere with an onsen and an izakaya.
The RV Park "Miharashi no Yu Auto Campground" in Nakagawa Town, Nasu District, Tochigi Prefecture, is a rare RV park featuring not only a full-scale onsen but also an izakaya. I headed there with high expectations for a new and unique experience of car camping that I had never had before.
The RV park was located in a rural area called "Miharashi no Yu Auto Campground"
It is an RV park and auto campground situated in a peaceful area with sprawling rural scenery. It is also close to the urban center, making shopping and access convenient. Beyond that, in a field of about 300 tsubo, cherry blossoms bloom, and the relaxing atmosphere is filled with the sounds of frogs and birds, providing a perfect place for car camping.

It appears that there is no partitioning, and car camping is basically limited to 5 vehicles, but depending on usage, accommodation for more than 5 vehicles is also possible. The author was able to use the facilities at a reasonable price of 1500 yen for accommodation and bathing without using electric or campfire services.
The facility has a cooking area, toilets with bidets, vending machines, and a free garbage station, making it adequately equipped as an RV park. It is delightful to enjoy a reasonably priced stay while experiencing an environment no different from a well-equipped campground.
Miharashi no Yu is a relaxing authentic hot spring
Built by a local construction contractor, "Miharashi no Yu" has an appearance and interior just like a ryokan. I want to heal the fatigue of my travels in this authentic hot spring.
The use of the hot spring is freely accessible upon check-in, and day-use bathing is also possible. There are rules about usage times and closing the bath lid, creating a style that fosters a comfortable environment for everyone.
The bathing area features a charming space with stone floors and walls, as well as wooden textures. The owner apparently had the idea of building the hot spring from the time the operations began, and it utilizes well water dug from a depth of 53 meters underground. The temperature of the water is just right, and due to the limited capacity, it can be in a private state depending on the timing, providing a wonderful sense of relaxation! Imagining the meal and drinks I am looking forward to later, I was able to relax deeply.
The perfect time after a bath at an izakaya! Interacting with neighboring campers too.
The unique service at the Mihara-yu Auto Campground is the dining at the "Izakaya." Reservations are required (separate from accommodation fees), and on this day, only courses were available, but starting from April 1, 2026, it seems they will be changing to a regular menu and daily a la carte options.
The meals are handmade by the owner, featuring authentic flavors. In addition to the oden, lotus root tsukune, tempura, and guts stew that were enjoyed during this time, rice dishes were also prepared. It seems that similar menus will continue to be available.

The drink menu is also abundant, creating a relaxed space that doesn't feel like an RV park. The author was alone during this visit, but a family camper in the store engaged in conversation, allowing for a fun time spent enjoying drinks along with the owner and the proprietress.
Mihara-yu Auto Campground has become a place of refuge built by relocating from Tokyo.
When asking the owner about how Mihara-yu Auto Campground began, it became clear that the move was the catalyst.
Despite living with his family while working in Tokyo, the desire to change the cramped living environment of the city grew, and it seems that coming across this land was a turning point. He decided on relocation and starting a business before retirement, transforming a hillside that could only accommodate one car into flat land with the cooperation of the community, eventually leading to completion. This izakaya has also expanded as a place for relaxation with friends, indicating that a connection with the surrounding people has been carefully built, not just the facilities.
The owner said, "Country living has its inconveniences, but once you've lived here, you can’t go back to city life." The satisfaction with his current life was very impressive from the way he spoke.

The owner and his wife also engage in farming, and they served freshly cooked rice and miso soup made from the rice they harvested. The rice was fluffy and sweet, with a very rich flavor. This space created by the couple, who enjoy country living, is likely to become a unique place that continues to heal those tired from city life.
