【Insect Control】 Worrying about those that come around the face!? The concentration and sense of security gained from the “insect-repellent net.”

While I was looking for a good insect repellent because I was bothered by bugs flying around my face during summer gardening, I became interested in the insect repellent net sold at Workman and decided to purchase it. How is its usability?

I found a "bug-repellent net" for insect control around the face

When I'm doing garden work or mowing grass, insects fly around my face. Even though I want to concentrate on the task, I have to stop and swat them away. Each time, my energy gets gradually drained. It's difficult to use bug repellent spray on my face, and just wearing a hat isn't enough. I was wondering if there was a good solution.
Then, I found something like this at the Workman store. It's a "bug-repellent net" that can be used simply by putting it over a hat. It was sold for 399 yen. The construction seemed simple, but if this would help me "concentrate on my work," I decided to give it a try.

Combining it with a hat increases focus and peace of mind

This bug-repellent net is just a net, so it needs to be combined with a hat you already have. I tried it by putting it over two types of hats I had at home: a straw hat and a cap.

The net is bag-shaped, and to attach it, you only need to cover the crown part of the hat with the rubber at the top. It’s made of 100% polyester and requires no special tools. As long as you have a hat, you can start using it right away.
By placing it on the brim of the hat, the net is kept at a moderate distance from the face. When the net clings to the face or skin, it tends to be ineffective as it makes it easier for bugs to bite, but since the brim acts as a spacer, it works perfectly with a straw hat. It seems like it could also work with a cap.
The visibility through the net is somewhat reduced compared to having nothing, but it does not interfere with checking your hands or feet. Once you get used to it, the level of concern is minimal. Despite the mesh being fine, I thought the visibility was surprisingly good.
When I tried it on a child, rather than being reluctant, they seemed to like it. They started catching bugs right away.
I hardly noticed any heat or stuffiness, and the breathable polyester mesh was not uncomfortable even during outdoor summer activities.
And with the worry of bugs around my face eliminated, there was no need to stop working to swat them away, allowing me to focus on the task at hand. If this sense of security can be bought for 399 yen, it might be worth it.

I found it at Workman, but it originated from a manufacturer called Kachiboshi

It was sold in the Workman store, so I thought it was a Workman original product, but upon closer inspection of the package, it turned out to be a product of Kachiboshi (勝星産業), a manufacturer from Toyama Prefecture. They have been producing work gloves and protective gear for over half a century, and this insect-repellent net is a practical item in that product line.

When I checked where to purchase it from Kachiboshi, I found out that it is sold not only at Workman but also at Konan (available in certain regions), and online at Amazon, Rakuten, and other e-commerce sites.

For those who are not fond of insect-repellent sprays, this is a solution for 399 yen

During work, I no longer had to stop to swat away insects. It's just that simple, but my concentration on the task at hand clearly increased. Perhaps due to the sense of security around my face, I was able to work even more efficiently than I had anticipated. My vision is slightly obstructed by the net, but once you get used to it, it's a level that you won't notice, so even accounting for that, I think it is definitely worth 399 yen.

It might also be easy to use for those who want to avoid using insect repellent around their face or who aren't fond of insect repellent sprays to begin with. Since it's foldable and not bulky, it might be convenient to keep one in the toolbox.
